China currently remains second ranked in GDP. From the year 1990, China was ranked 11th place, ten years later it climbs to 6th place. Now, China currently remains second ranked in GDP and sustained that way for quite a long time. This is because of their cheap labour; they have maintained contracts with foreign tradesmen from licensed companies and continue to manufacture their products. Though they are running smoothly it is hard to equate America to china. This is because America is a mass producer of goods for the country and products from foreign tradesman. But according to business insider China may grasp the opportunity to overtake America by 2020. India is a developing country till this year, yet they manage to persevere and remain
US writer Todd C. Ames concludes his two-part discussion of the ways in which Chinese and Americans think of each other, and the most common misunderstandings that arise
China has already overtaken Japan to become the world`s second-largest economy in recent five years. “However, such economic
The thing that surprised me the most was the similarities between the US and China. We are on completely different sides of the globe, yet we are so much alike. The biggest similarity I noticed was the cities. Also the pressure put of children to excel at school is the same, even though there is a bit more in China. Even the homes are similar. The biggest difference would most likely be the food — American Chinese food is not like real chinese food at all. Additionally people in china spend a lot of time with family. If I were to visit China I would want to go during the Chinese New Year to see all the festivities and traditions. Having learned about another culture, I would most like to see more countrywide tradition to become part of
New years eve is celebrated in many different ways across the world. There are many different traditions. America and china have many similarities and differences in the way that they celebrate. They are both very passionate in there different celebrations.
Thank you Jordan for your post and for sharing your experience in China. Looking at the society through the anthropological lens indeed transforms the way we view different experiences in our daily lives. Am glad it has helped you to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Chinese culture. It is particularly interesting that you got to see the famous celebrations of the New Year and interact with the people. Did you see any similarities between the American and Chinese culture when you interpreted the experience in Beijing? If so I would like to know some of the similarities that you noted.
I do believe that China is the one country that will grow enough to rival the west, maybe even surpass it. Meaning, I can see China become somewhat like how the United is known in the world, economy, and power wise. In the “Rise of China” it states that “the size of its economy has quadrupled since the launch of market reforms in the late 1970S and, by some estimates, will double again over the next decade. It has become one of the world's major manufacturing centers and consumes roughly a third of the global supply of iron, steel, and coal”. So, China is looking to become a top player in the world (with United States and Europe) and there will be some type of change in not only their own country, but other counties as well. In order to continue to do
The United States will lose to China as the World’s most powerful country. First of all, everybody knows that America is the most wasteful nation on the planet. The majority of Americans live only for the present time and do not concern for the future. They would rather purchase cans of soda than drink free tap water and then generate tons of waste every day. The leftover food that American families and businesses throw out at the end of the day could feed millions of starving people. As a result, their losses of billions of dollars per year from their food waste effect their economy. On the other hand, Chinese people do not live for the moment, spending everything they earn. They save and plan for the future. Furthermore, China has the highest
USA and China are now two of the strongest economical country in the world. The USA on the west side while China is on the east side more specifically America Continent and Asia continent respectively.
Would the United States passing a free trade agreement between Asia lead to corruption or growth for all countries within Asia? Currently the subject of a free trade agreement with Asia is being debated among the United States Congress (“Trans-Pacific”). The trade is supposed to reduce the tariffs that each country pays on its exported products. Americans are being told the free trade add jobs, provide access to products otherwise not available at a lower cost, but none of this is true. The free trade agreement will give Asian manufacturers an absolute advantage over the American manufacture’s because their wages are very low. The agreement will result in part of the United States gross domestic product or GDP to be redistributed to these Asia countries providing them with the catalyst to Americanization. They will be able to go to school, obtain a job, have a family, and buy a house and car, in short, live like an American at the expense of American’s. The United States allowing a free trade agreement with Asian countries would not only jeopardize America, but would corrupt all of Asia’s society. Reason being the American lifestyle is extremely wasteful and providing any country with large populations that dwarfs the United States is an incredibly bad idea.
In this globalization era, we know that USA and China are both developed country with almost the same strength in Economic aspect. USA and China are the two strongest countries when it comes to their economy. But beside that, USA and China are actually two different countries if we overlook at their culture, custom, language, society, and many more.
China, a fast-developing country in the 21st century has a long way to go to catch up with America, a well-developed country. The differences between the two countries are part of the reasons why this happen. In political aspect, they have different systems to function. In historical aspect, China has a different history from the United States. In the economical way, China is making a great progress, but the poverty and unemployment still commonly exist in the country while the US does a better job on eliminating the poverty. When talking about the educations between two countries, the one in America is considered more humane and more advanced. Even though China developed very rapidly, many differences still exist between them and
Currently the best way to calculate the growth of economy is using PPP model (purchasing power of Parity). China PPP is 12608.87 US$ while US is having PPP is 52117.76 US$ which is major gap and this shows though china is having more GDP number but it’s not as strong as the US economy and that is a positive indication for the US.
For more than two decades under the communist rule of Mao Zedong, China’s economy was in a stagnant state, but now it is known to have the world’s fastest growing economy. In fact China is currently undergoing what is being described as a second industrial revolution. According to the international monetary fund, China became the world’s
Almost two decades later, it looks like this unipolar moment is coming to an end. America still has the world’s largest economy, but China is catching up fast. Even if China’s growth slows – as seems likely, if only because such spectacular wealth creation has to slow at some point -- it is still likely to
China is currently the 2nd largest economy in the world, trailing the us and set to overtake the us economy by 2024 according to the IMF. GDP of china has grown extensively over the past three decades and have contributed to large scale growth in exports and imports, technological advancements, health, and more. The acceleration of globalisation was due to two major advancements, the first was the economic reforms of 1978 when china ‘opened the country’ and the joining of the WTO in 2001. China is classified as a socialist economy currently being ruled by a communist government. China’s current growth rate for GDP is recorded as being 7.7% in 2013 and has continued to slowdown over recent years due to a global economic slowdown.
