It was 1929 and a creamery was built, along with a boiler house, a warehouse, and a garage and pump building. The creamery provided jobs for men during the great depression to feed their families and pay their taxes. Other community members hauled milk to the creamery and were employed by the creamery, whose product was called challenge butter. The creamery continuously ran seven days a week for 40 years while it was owned by the Ada County Dairymen's Association. In the later years of operation the creamery was affiliated with Wyeth Laboratories to manufacture SMA baby formula. After the operations were ceased in 1970 the dairymen’s milk was shipped to Caldwell for processing. From the 1970s until early 2006, the site was used mainly as …show more content…
The City Hall hosts all of the public hearings and they also host art shows on the top floor. The building received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification, a standard currently attained by only a handful of Idaho homes and buildings. On the third floor of Meridian City Hall, directly across from the Mayor’s Office reception area, the Meridian Arts Commission maintains an elegant art display space called Initial Point Gallery. The carpeted gallery, filled with natural light, features about 120 feet of wall space for the display of two-dimensional art, as well as several wood and acrylic display cases for the exhibition of three-dimensional works of art. Art shows are continuously hosted along with art auctions. There are bright colorful flyers advertising the fun event so that after looking at the art people may be interested in participating. If people are interested in learning more about the history of the building or other historic things about Meridian the Idaho Historical Society is located inside the building. The historical society contains archived documents and photographs relating to Meridian's history and several display cases exhibiting items from Meridian's past. A part of why the City Hall is nicknamed the “One Stop Shop” is because it contains the historical society. The historical society is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday 11:00am - 4:00pm. The exterior of Meridian City Hall was designed as
Rd 145 soon became an integral part of everyday life in Birdseye, Indiana. Home to multiple general stores, a variety of hometown restaurants, and a hall for the Modern Woodmen of America (Huff 1), this edifice served as a gathering place for all residents, past and present, throughout its 123 year lifetime. Now nearing the end of its lifecycle once again, this unique building awaits the chance to undergo an extensive restoration to reveal its former grandeur, because as Helmut Jahn once said, “Every building is a prototype. No two are alike,” (Demakis 12). Preserving this crumbling Italianate gem will not only provide a cultural hotspot for the town of Birdseye; it will give residents the opportunity to learn about the structure’s illustrious past and the history of the town itself while also telling the stories of many past residents and the challenges they
During the Cold War, the Soviets were trying to spread communism throughout Europe and Asia by exalting its achievements, and undermining democracy. Part of their approach was by launching ‘Hate-America’ propaganda. “As the Cold War intensified, the Truman administration launched an aggressive “Campaign of Truth” […] to counter the Soviet Union propaganda machine (Ubah, 2012).” The Campaign of Truth was created to help convince the world that the United States has “no purpose of going to war, except in the defense of freedom. (Vaccaro, 1950)” Truman encouraged the media to show the world that the United States was ‘wholly dedicated to the cause of peace (Vaccaro,
The executives of Burger Barn have attempted to implement some new changes to Creamy Creations in a positive light. However, some of these changes risk having an impact on the rosy future they foresee for Creamy Creations. Currently, Creamy Creations is still profitable and the financial numbers have rose since they took over management, but there are few things I do not think Burger Barn put any consideration into when they looked at the current state of the business and the future they foresee if business continues down the glories trail it is on currently.
Founded in 2000, Cocoa Delights is one of the youngest gourmet chocolate manufacturers in the industry. However we do not view our youth as a weakness, on the contrary, our youth is associated with our two most valued attributes: creativity and innovation.
Ice cream is the most popular dessert in the world. People from different places have their own myths about who invented the ice cream. It is hard to tell where or when exactly it was discovered because there is not a lot of evidence. Some people say the ancient Romans invented ice cream, others says that Marco Polo brought the discovery back to Italy from China. We most likely will never know who first discovered ice-cream or where but it is obvious that it has had a major impact on consumers worldwide. Our fascination with ice cream seems to just get stronger as technology improves. It is a part of almost all cultures in some way, which is not

Before creating House, Whiteread had previously exhibited her sculpture Ghost, a plaster cast of the inside of a room in a Victorian house, at the Chisenhale Gallery in 1990. House was made as a similar work on a larger scale, including not just a single room, but an entire house. Artangel, a London-based arts organization, commissioned the work. It was contracted that the selected house would have been already scheduled for demolition and that the piece would be temporary, the structure had to be free-standing so it would be visible from all sides.

LEED Certification, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is both a professional certification in sustainable building practices, and a grading scale on a structure’s environmental impact and sustainability (USGBC, 2008). A LEED certified professional is recognized as having completed the required course of curriculum in LEED and has successfully passed the LEED Certification exam. This allows a LEED certified professional to be able to work with colleagues of the construction industry in all aspects of a project to develop a LEED certified structure. Using LEED ensures a structure to be designed and built with the utmost attention to detail to assure that the structure is as environmentally friendly as

Teaching in a multicultural society is difficult, it’s a balancing act, you have to be able to help the students from other cultures be able to easily integrate into a new society and culture, but you also don’t want to make your students from another culture lose their sense of identity. There’s no solid answer for how to maintain both of these at once, it’s incredibly difficult. The fictional novel White Bread by Christine Sleeter shows us how fifth grade teacher Jessica Westerfield attempts to keep this balance while also dealing with a tumultuous marriage and finding herself. I was not a fan of the novel, I thought that it’s lesson was predictable and one that was lacking evidence for it’s actual effectiveness as the book was fictional, although I want to state that I do agree with the lesson in that it is important for students of other cultures to have their cultures be represented in the classroom and not squashed by ours. I would have found the lesson more valuable had the book been more realistic, and had less fluff, such as the flashback chapters to the 19th and early 20th century. The final big complaint I had with the book were the characters, they seemed less human and more corpses on strings putting on a grim masquerade. That being said, I did get sucked into the story, and agree with the message it was trying to convey, however fumbled it was. First, however, I’ll write about the realism.
As an event planner of an art exhibition in my community, my focus would be to develop ways in which the community can participate in the exhibit and how the exhibition can benefit the community as a whole. Art exhibition attracts the members of the community to come together in an appreciation and awareness that fosters unity in the community. Experiencing art at the local community helps to reveal the character and identity of the neighborhood. It enriches the lives of the people as they come together and shares a public space, the interaction of shared thoughts how they feel about the art promotes positive bonding between family members, children and even strangers (Art in Public Places, n.d.).
“In 1851, the first large scale ice cream manufacturer opened up in Baltimore, Maryland”, claims Dairy Goodness article.
Ice cream is said to have started in many time periods and places. However, the funny thing is due to it starting in many places, it means that there is not just one creator of ice cream but many reaching as far back as the second century B.C. Alexander the Great was said to have, at one point in time, enjoyed snow and ice flavored with honey and nectar. There have also been some biblical references which say that King Solomon was fond of ice drinks during harvest time. Later on, during 54-68 A.D., it is said that during the Roman Empires time, Nero Claudius Caesar sent runners or slaves to the top of the mountains to fetch snow which was then mixed with nectar, fruit pulp, honey or wine. This was probably closer to the Italian ice we have today, rather than ice cream as we know it. A few years later, sometime between 618 and 907 A.D., during
