The evaluation of information strategies consists of adopting useful communication strategies. This concept is done by collecting, analyzing, and evaluating information as a method of creating a message. Evaluating information strategies begins by determining the content and context of the message. After determining the content and the context of the message, the communicator can begin the preparation of the search questions. With the search questions, multiple points of view come into play. Different points of view produce different information sources. This is the time when the communicator should determine the appropriate information sources. Even when the communicator believes that the informal source is credible, there are many possible distortions that can hinder the accuracy of the sources information. One example of a distortion from as source is selective recall. Selective recall occurs when the informal source mainly remembers topics that have a high interest value.
Journalistic sources are another example of information sources. There are many different types of journalistic sources. There are also many ideas to consider when using a journalistic source. The type of source, story, and reporter are all important aspects of a journalistic source that the communicator must consider looking out for in evaluating information on the chosen topic. Examples of types of journalistic sources are the newspaper, magazine, radio, and television. It is imperative to understand the story being told from the chosen source. Understanding the story can make the information valuable depending on how much of the information is understood.
Another example of a journalistic source is the library. There are different libraries that can be used. Public, academic, and media libraries are examples of available libraries for help in evaluating and researching information.
