Decision analytic models are used to examine cost effectiveness of healthcare interventions. These models summarise available evidence succinctly for analysis. When there is a lack of observed evidence, expert opinions on the mean or median values (occasionally the minimum and maximum range) for the parameter of interest are commonly used. This does not provide sufficient information to examine whether the distribution of uncertainty surrounding the parameter of interest is representative of the expert’s opinion. As this is a key component in Probabilistic Sensitivity Analysis (PSA) commonly used in decision analytic models, as recommended by NICE(1), there is need to ensure the appropriate distribution of parameter uncertainty to …show more content…
This systematic review by Grigore et al(2) highlighted the need for guidelines to critically appraise elicitation exercises and suggested for more research to define these measurement criteria. The authors proposed that until a definitive checklist is developed, the validity and reliability of the elicitation exercise should always be reported explicitly.
Following this 2013 systematic review, the same authors published an article in 2016, on a study that compared the results for two commonly used elicitation methods, the histogram and hybrid methods(3). This study had the following 3 objectives
1) Examine how these two methods appealed to the experts,
2) Determine if there were any differences in the elicited distributions and;
3) Compare the impact of the elicited distributions on an actual decision model
The study results showed that
1) Generally, the experts found the histogram method easier to use compared to the hybrid method although the two elicitation methods were closely ranked by the experts in terms of ease of use and face validity
2) The distributions from the histogram method were slightly narrower than the distributions from the hybrid method, suggesting greater certainty when aggregated.

e) Questioning is another method of sampling evidence and will involve the questioning of both the assessor and the candidate. To ensure that the evidence has the necessary validity the questions to the learner should happen in private away from the assessor. The need for the learner to feel that they have the confidence to disclose the true picture of the assessment process is very important. The question sessions can be recorded on the necessary portfolio documentation but can add validity if they are recorded on tape or digitally and used as evidence.
Sensitivity analysis begins with the base case (or for this analysis, the “most likely case”) developed using expected values for all uncertain variables. The uncertain variables used in this analysis are procedures per day, average net revenue, and building/equipment salvage value.
2. Uncertainty/sensitivity analysis: The effects of uncertainty are considered in the profitability analyses. Examples include calculating or discussing the impact of various potential revenue levels on product line profit margins, and applying the probabilities of successfully negotiating postal outlet and lottery booth contracts.
3.2 Evaluate the benefits of using a holistic approach to assessmentBy collecting evidence/ information from the learner via
Statistics are used in many different ways in my workplace. The use of statistics is for the improvement of quality care and safety. Statistics are also used to measure employee compliance in regards to hand washing and proper use of policies and procedures. We also use charts and graphs to show infection rates, skin integrity, falls within the facility, budget concerns, and many more. These graphs help hospital personal improve care and safety to provide quality care to all patients. Graphs can also be used to measure patient and employee satisfaction.
I have employed the following methodologies; questionnaire, content analysis and interview including both primary and secondary research. The questionnaire is used as a short representative of individual’s opinions or evidence to prove statistics throughout my PIP. Content
I recently had the opportunity to do just that. As part of my PPR, one of my goals was to attend 20 hours of environmental safety courses. During the courses I had learned of several methods used to prevent pollution. One of the discussions centered on a list with subcomponents outlining ways that employees could help to improve the environment and his or her role in preventing pollution.

In the modern age of health, education and public safety, society relies on rigorous research methods to find answers to complex issues dealing with social issues and general concerns. Ultimately, some short-term research methods may initially fail; however, continued extended research should surely result in success and benefit future generations. Depending on the topic of research; some research methods might be more appropriate than others. For example, clinical and laboratory experimental trials might receive better consummation if they use Quasi-experimental and Classical Experimental design rather than Cross Sectional Studies and Longitudinal Studies which focuses more on psychological experiments and behavior studies (Addison) (2015).
They consider a number of options for intervention and assessment (Ducan 2012). Also evaluation is partly established on the objectives of the conceptual model (Reed & Sanderson
The appropriate institutional review boards approved this study; and Pinto (2009) supervised all portions of the analysis process (Pinto, 2009). The method of analysis was categorized into the following sections: recruitment, interview procedures, interview protocol, analytic strategy (Pinto, 2009).
Additionally, different types of questions were used to more fully understand what the participants thought. After directly asking the
Hi Raven, the discussion presented is conclusive to the elicitation process; nevertheless, at this point I would like to assume the elicitation process is far advanced and it is time to review and organize the information collected from the various stakeholders throughout the different applied techniques.
