Description of the major thrust of family-centered practice
According to Sandau-Beckler (2001), the primary drive of family-centered practice is customer “empowerment”. She defined empowerment as “the process of negotiating or eliminating barriers to problem solving imposed by external society” (p. 86). Moreover, she elaborated that the therapist should present the customer with prospects that would result in empowerment. Similarly, Cohen (2004) mentioned that both the therapist and customer benefits from this expansion. she further uttered, “You become empowered as you assist in the empowerment of others” (p.42).

The ethical guidelines for human service professionals mandate that, “Human service professionals respect the integrity and welfare of the client at all times.” (Freeman, S. J. 2000)
Chapter 3 explains the importance of ethical competence specific to the human services field. As a professional it is important to know and understand an organizations code of ethics, as it will be a reference tool in how to handle certain situations you are faced with. Human service professionals enter into the profession with a personal set of values, goals and ethical conduct but, must always remember that their actions should always reflect the values and ethics of the company they are now a part of (site). In the event of an ethical issue a professional should always refer the ethical standards to determine what action should be taken (site). Ethics are also in place to facilitate legal implications that stem from malpractice lawsuits.
Human Services is a disciplinary geared towards meeting the needs of people from a multiple knowledge bases ("What is human services?", 2013). Multidisciplinary human services is an approach to involving a variety of disciplines to address a topic or problem ("Multidisciplinary Human Services Specialization," n.d.). This paper will compare and contrast three commonly applied theories to research in the field of multidisciplinary human services: social
Family is something that plays a tremendous role in our life. Even though the structure of families has changed over the years, it is important to acknowledge that there many families out there whether they are traditional families, nuclear family, stepfamilies or others which tend to have different types of problems in their families. Therefore, many families attempt to go to family therapy in order for them to obtain help in solving the different types of issues they might have at home. As stated in the book Family Therapy by Michael P. Nichols (2013), “The power of family therapy derives from bringing parents and children together to transform their interaction… What keeps people stuck in their inability to see their own participation in the problems that plague them. With eyes fixed firmly on what recalcitrant others are doing, it’s hard for most people to see the patterns that bind them together. The family therapist’s job is to give them a wake-up call” (2013).
Children, young people and Families: Families of children with additional needs are likely to be in contact with many different agencies and professionals - for example health, education, social services, housing and benefits. For example, families with disabled children see on average ten different professionals and have more than 20 clinic visits a year (Sloper, 2004). Often families don't understand the roles and responsibilities of different agencies and professionals; they don't know who to go to for what; they may get conflicting information; they may be passed from one agency to another. This can produce rather than alleviate stress for parents and carers, which in turn impacts on relationships with their

Human service professionals utilize these standards in ethical and professional decision making (O’Brien,2010) Conflicts can occur from the code and laws, policies in the work place, cultural practices, credentialing boards, and personal beliefs (O’Brien,2010) A Human service professional should display their ethical-decision making during situations to assure they’re making careful choices.

At the beginning of the year looking for classes to take Human Services stood out to me. Although not really knowing the meaning of human services, I believed it was about helping people and that’s something I have always been very passionate about. I am always the friend who is giving advice and hearing out my friends’ dilemmas and situations. The definition of Human services in our book is: a phrase that is often used to group activities that focus on helping people live better lives. In a vague way, the human services include formal systems such as government welfare programs, education, mental retardation services, mental health organizations, child care programs, physical health care establishments, and the correctional services of the legal justice system. The definition of a human service worker is: Anyone who is trained or educated in helping activities. A person who does not have traditional professional academic credentials but who, through experience, training, or education, provides helping services. When this project of interviewing a human service worker and learning in depth how they do their job, and how they help others it was something that I was pretty excited about. The process on how I found the human service corporation I would interview was pretty difficult since all of the ones I was interested at first were taken. Going through the process to schedule my first interview was not as hard as I sought it to be.
Haley and Madanes’ approach to strategic family therapy argues that change occurs through the process of the family carrying out assignments issued by the therapist. As described in Madanes’ Strategic Family Therapy (1981), “strategic therapists attempt to design a therapeutic strategy for each specific problem.” Therapists issue directives that are designed to shift the framework of the family to resolve the displaying problem. Treatment of these issues would include intense involvement, carefully planned interventions designed to reach clear goals, frequent use of therapist-generated directives or assignments, and paradoxical procedures.

A variety of different problems can and do arise in human service organizations. Unfortunately, they do not come with instruction manuals on how to resolve them. It is the responsibility of human service administrators to identify problems and strategies to address them. It is important to consider and reflect upon the steps and actions that administrators in the human services field take to address problems. It is also equally important to consider what administrators can do to prevent problems from occurring to being with. In this paper, a brief description of a human services administrator from this week’s video will be illustrated; secondly, descriptions of the problems associated in the
Three of the eight objectives that I have utilized the most during my practicum for Human Service 250 is, how to demonstrate a helping relationship with a client, how to demonstrate time management techniques, and how to demonstrate professional attitudes with clients and agency personnel. During my practicum I have utilized the rest of the objectives for this class, which are, how to demonstrate interviewing skills, to describe agency policies and functions, to demonstrate knowledge of confidentiality and ethical issues, how to measure, collect and interpret information needed for service delivery, and how to identify personal strengths and weaknesses in the practicum experience. Hopefully, this paper will demonstrate the

The Human Service Professionals are a group of individuals whose job is specifically to serve the society, educate them and work for the societal welfare at large. In the twentieth century, organizational ethics have gained immense importance in the corporate world. The need to adhere to ethical standards is even greater for the human service professionals and those who educate them. This is because any deviance from ethical standards can question the integrity of human service professions and can raise question on the standards of social welfare. This is unhealthy for the trust relationships of the society over human service individuals.
