The Green Bay Packers have always had in interesting dynamic with its local city and Brown County, which is the county the franchise resides in. According to the 2010 census, Brown County had a population of 248,007 people, and the City of Green Bay had 104,057 people, which makes it the 139th largest city in the United States (Census). The next smallest city with a professional football team is New Orleans, which is the 51st largest city in the country (Census). The reason the Green Bay Packers are so interesting is because they reside in such a small city, that their influence on Brown County’s economy must be large in comparison. A study in the late 90’s suggests that the packers add 1,620 full-time and part-time jobs to Brown County (Green Bay Economy). Green Bay has been a city with ups and downs, and the Packers aid in fundraising by letting charities take in the earnings of concessions which can bring in $400,000 annually (Clark, 2015). The jobs created by the Packers isn’t a huge number especially compared to other industries and business in the city like Schneider National (3,599) and Humana (2,700), but it does considerably help the economy and they are jobs that wouldn’t be there at all if the Packers weren’t around (Green Bay Economy). Some of the additional jobs that the Packers give out is to shovel parking lots, bleachers, and the field before game days (Clark,2015). These jobs the Packers give seem small, but they are big in reality because they give people extra money that then can be spent on businesses or attractions to the city, which creates a multiplier effect and increases revenue throughout the city. The Fundraising the Packers do helps the city tremendously, but also helps the perception the Packers have which shows that the Packers Franchise is for the City of Green Bay, and not for
