When looking closely at innovation within the world we live in, it is difficult to choose one individual innovative design.
Every product within today’s society requires innovation to be successful within the fast moving markets of the world, and that is why I decided to look at the peak of the spectrum - the Apple iPhone.
This is arguably one of the most innovative and successful products in the world. From 2007 to 2014 Apple sold more than 500 million iPhones worldwide, producing 8 models of iPhones all featuring new and different innovative features in this short period of time. (Williams, 2015)

Context/economic development

When considering economic development it must be noted that the iPhone changed the way all phone companies presented their product.
Although Apple was not the first to produce a smart phone, they were the first to make an impact with it. The initial success by Apple was initiated by their ability to produce a phone with features and designs that had never been seen before. The unique appealing design ensured they stole a march on the competition and more established manufacturers in a fast growing market.
This allowed Apple to instantly place a stamp on the market with fresh, new touch screen technology that immediately appealed to consumers. Each adaptation was well received and progressed the technical capability and allowed them to drip feed the consumer with modest but tangible improvements.
