Who is responsible for the murder of Hae Min Lee? The podcast “Serial” is about a host Sara Koenig trying to solve the case for Adnan Syed. Adnan Syed was a regular highschooler who dated Hae Min Lee. When Hae Min Lee disappears, Jay blames Adnan for killing Hae and that’s why Adnan is in jail. So far Jay is the reason why Hae Min Lee is dead, Adnan is innocent,Jay is guilty because he changes his story all the time. Admittedly some people think Adnan is guilty of the murder. People think that because when Adnan was in highschool he used to smoke weed with his friends. However that does not prove anything because other times Adnan always went to track practice after school. All the people around him says he’s a nice person. So therefore there’s no reason for Adnan to kill Hae Min Lee. …show more content…
Proof that Jay always changing his story because one minute he says he was in Leakin Park helping “Adnan” bury the body. The next minute he says he’s not helping Adnan. The proof is that the detective asks Jay “Detective: you help dig the hole? Jay: yes How long did it take you both to dig the hole? Jay: 20-25 minutes. Detective: how deep did you make the hole? Jay: oh maybe six inches at the most. It wasn’t very deep at all”.(1) The evidence means that Jay so called helped Adnan bury Hae's.This evidence is good because it shows how Jay was also burying Hae’s body that makes him
Firstly, the Nisha call placed Adnan with Jay after the murder. This call could have been a butt-dial that rang for 2 minutes. The call could have been from Adnan, who wanted to make Jay talk with Nisha. The Nisha call does not prove Adnan killed Hae, as it simply just puts him with Jay at the time. Also, the prosecution stated that Adnan was constantly doing bad things. Everyone does bad things, but it does not make them murderers. Finally, Jay knew the location of Hae’s car. The fact that Jay knew the location of Hae’s car should arouse suspicion on him. The evidence utilized by the prosecution is circumstantial and can be disproved, and the lack of strong evidence proves Adnan’s
Physical evidence was extremely lacking, and all DNA tests conducted were clear of Syed’s DNA. Therefore, it is more than likely that Syed is innocent. The evidence, or lack thereof, presented in the case of Adnan Syed v. State of Maryland proves that Adnan Syed is not guilty of the murder of Hae Min Lee.
We believe that Jay is guilty. In the next five minutes we will prove to you that Adnan is in fact innocent and why Jay should be in jail. Adnan was close friends with Jay’s girlfriend Stephanie which is what we believe Jay’s motive was to murder Hae. The court convicted Adnan of the murder with the motive of being jealous of Hae’s new relationship. We argue that the motive of jealousy was what made Jay kill Hae Min Lee.
Every time Jay was asked to give his testimony his story changed and he never really had an exact story of what happened that day or why Adnan would have killed Hae Min Lee. In the trial testimony Jay was asked why Adnan killed Hae and he said, "because Hae made him mad." In Jay's second testimony he responded to the same question with a different reason "because Hae had broken his heart."
Jay Wilds should be credited with the murder of Hae Min Lee. This is attributed to
https://classroom.google.com/o/NTA0NzU2MTI4M1pa (at the bottom of the page). He wiped off the shovels and threw his clothes away. “Detective:Jay, why would Adnan call you? Jay: I’m the criminal element of Woodlawn. Perceived. It's like how the student body sees me. You know, I mean, people who really know me know that I'm not like that but, you know, you get a certain reputation and kinda sticks with you. Detective: Because of the contacts you have with helping him get his marijuana, he thinks that you're in that element that would be willing to assist him in, um, disposing of the body?”. With this evidence I think that Jay Wilds is framing Adnan Syed & even though Adnan is in jail doesn’t mean he is a killer. So Jay has some experience of
What would you do if you found out Jay was the murderer and all along Adnan was innocent and had nothing to do with Hae’s murder. The story if Serial narrated by Sarah Koenig is about, the murder of Hae Min Lee, Adnan Syed, and Jay Wilds. Adnan Syed is Hae’s ex and a suspect in Hae’s murder. Adnan is currently serving life for Hae’s murder. Jay Wilds is Adnan’s ex buddy and a suspect in Hae’s murder. Jay told police that Adnan did it. This story is interesting because this is such a wonderful mystery that they are trying to solve. I believe that Adnan Syed is guilty of the murder of Hae Min Lee because, he said he was going to kill Hae to several people and people say that they seen him at the library, where the murder might’ve happened.
To begin with, Adnan might be innocent because not enough evidence was gathered. The investigators put the car that Hae’s body was found under examination. According to Sarah Koenig, no evidence was found that leads back to Adnan. She adds, “Apart
Adnan had an alibi, Asia McClain, who said that he was at the library after school, during the period of time when the state claimed he killed Hae. So, either the state’s chronology is wrong or that the alibi was lying just to help Adnan. The quote illustrates the letter that Asia McClain sent Adnan, “Dear Adnan-- I hope I spelled it right. I'm not sure if you remember talking to me in the library on January 13, but I remember chatting with you." (Episode 1: The Alibi p. 18). When Asia McClain wrote this letter, though it doesn’t have a exact time, continues to emphasize that Adnan is innocent because the state announced that Adnan was guilty, but since Adnan has an alibi, then there is proof that Adnan is innocent. Adnan also had a affidavit, a written statement confirmed by oath or affirmation, that was written by Asia McClain. “Asia wrote out an affidavit on the spot. In it, she says she and Adnan spoke for about 15 to 20 minutes while she was waiting for her boyfriend to give her a ride. Quote, "We left around 2:40," unquote. Remember, Hae is supposed to be dead by 2:36. And then, the kicker-- "No attorney has ever contacted me about January 13, 1999 and the above information."” (Episode 1: The Alibi p. 19). It is plausible that this key detail wasn’t mentioned at
Adnan’s “friend” Jay had a lot of information about the day Hae went missing but Adnan not so much, this is one of the reasons I believe Adnan is not guilty. Adnan and Jay had two completely different stories about what happened that day. Jay claimed that Adnan and him went to the mall to buy Jay’s girlfriend Stephanie gifts for her birthday and while they were out shopping Adnan told Jay that he was going to kill his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. While Adnan claims that he already bought Stephanie a stuffed reindeer and wanted to check on Jay to see if he got Stephanie a
This suggest that Adnan could not be the killer but the only one with a strong enough case for conviction. But what if there was someone that the police didn’t know about that did kill Hae or the police didn’t even notice because they were building their case?
In Sarah Koenig’s Serial, Adnan Syed has proven to anyone listening that he is guilty of murdering Hae Min Lee by denying any recollection of the day in question, manipulating his audience and Ms. Koenig herself, and by having all evidence point the finger in his direction. Mr. Adnan Syed was just 17 years old in 1999 when he was accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. Adnan maintains that he has no memory whatsoever of what happened that day on January 13th, 1999. “I mean,
Some people believed that it really was Adnan that committed the murder of Hae, but some of the information that is used against adnan just doesn't match up, but not many things that came from Jay seemed to be very true. Jay jay committed the murder of Hae Min Lee because he changed his story the second time he got interviewed, he told false information about his timing, and he lied about knowing where Hae's car was after the murder was committed.
Did Adnan Syed really kill Hae Min Lee? In the podcast Serial, Sarah Koenig analyzes the murder case of Hae Min Lee, which took place on January 13, 1999. Adnan Syed, the main suspect of her murder, was imprisoned after losing the case. Even after trial, Adnan’s friends and family don’t believe that he murdered Hae. Adnan Syed is not guilty of the murder of Hae Min Lee.
The defense demonstrates how ineffective and unreliable the criminal justice system is through the tactics used. The only job Adnan’s lawyer, Christina Gutierrez, had was this: to prove Adnan is innocent. However, undoubtedly, she did not do her investigation properly. For instance, Asia’s letter to Adnan when he is in prison was the key evidence to prove that the State’s timeline was wrong. Asia mentioned speaking to Adnan in the Woodlawn Public library, for 15 to 20 minutes during the time the State’s said Hae was killed. The judge wrote Christina Gutierrez’s, Adnan’s lawyer, not using Asia McClain as an alibi witness was strategic, since there was no specified time in the original letters. There was also the call Asia made to the Prosecutor, Kevin Urick, saying that she only wrote the affidavit because Adnan’s family pressured her. If these were the only facts to consider when trying to comprehend the tactics of the defense, I would say it was a good call. Despite it being a well thought out method it made me wonder, if she has gone to the library and asked to see the footage of the day Asia claims to have held a conversation with Adnan, rather than a disadvantage, the letter would have been beneficial for them, since Adnan now has an alibi. Proving the timeline the State presented to
