Reflection Paper Based on the results of the above two assessments, as well as your own knowledge and experience, write a short reflection paper about your real or potential leadership skills and style. Describe your current strengths, your current weaknesses, and the education, training, skills or experience you need to grow as a leader.
Your Leadership Style Assessment Results I scored 25/25 in Experienced-guide, 23/25 in both Ambassador and Truth-Seeker, 22/25 in Advocate and Creative Builder, and 20/25 in People Mover. According to the explanation, Experienced-guides are able to put themselves in the shoes of others and have the ability to listen to them. I believe that it is significant for a leader to show empathy to people. The other two that I scored high in were in Ambassador and Truth-seeker. An Ambassador is one who can handle different types of situation gracefully and a truth-seeker is one who is levelheaded and thinks fair. I believe these traits are extremely important in a leader because leaders should be able to handle situations that come

I see the value in people and care about the feelings of others as I listen and guide them along the right path. I also can encourage people to look at the positives and the negatives of a situation, which shows good judgment on my part. I scored the lowest in Creative Builder. According to the explanation, a creative builder is one that envisions and becomes entrepreneurs. They are intrigued by new ideas and attempt to turn it into a big deal. I thought that was interesting to me. I find that as a weakness; therefore, by seeing this as a weakness, I can perceive it as something I need to improve on. I do agree with the strengths and weaknesses of the assessment. In my opinion, it is a key element to see what I can continue to improve and see the areas that I need to start developing and practicing to make it a good habit.
The Blake and Mouton Managerial
When we think about what a leader and manager is, most of us will use the same meaning. But in actual fact this is incorrect. We have to look at these two terms differently. What is a manager? A manager is someone who is responsible for directing and controlling the work and staff of a business, or of a department within the organization. So what is a leader? A leader is someone whom people follow, somebody who guides or directs others. Looking at both terms they both are very different. The question is always asked is a manager can be a leader and leader a manager. The true answer is managers are not always leaders, while leaders can be
Based from the Leadership Legacy Assessment, I scored higher in Truth-Seeker, Creative Builder and Advocate. For the most part, I definitely agree that I have the characteristics of a Truth-Seeker because I believe in fairness and I use my education to determine my actions. Maintaining fairness among peers or colleagues creates organization and balance. Unfortunately, hearing stories relating to inequality and unfairness lead to disparities in the healthcare environment, which is an issue that affects the quality of work and also affect patient outcomes. This is something I have also experienced from a healthcare environment and I learned that communication is a skill that can make a difference in how we work. Being firm, non-judgmental and respecting helps how others respond. When it comes to working with others, I was not able to take initiatives because I was the listener. But this was something I had to change about myself because nurses must work with a
Every person has some kind of good and evil traits within their personality, but what really defines good and evil? People from different cultures could consider different traits to be “good” or “evil” or even a little of both. There are times in life where a person has to make certain choices that could be interoperated both ways. In this paper, I will be analyzing different characters in the story “The Good Women of Suzutan” and what type of role each personality plays within the story in order to give the audience a chance to come up with their own ending.
This paper is a critical analysis of the article “Spirituality as a Predictive Factor for Signing an Organ Donor Card”. The research was preformed by Anat Peles Bortz, RN, PhD, Tamar Ashkenazi, RN,PhD, and Semyon Melnikov, RN, PhD. The research was accepted for publication in 2014. The research was presented at the 25th International Nursing Research Congress Symposium in 2014 in Hong Kong. The research appears in Sigma Theta Tau International, Journal of Nursing Scholarship 2015. The research looked at two groups of people in Israel, those who signed an organ donor card
Participate in a leadership weekend is one of my passion to travel the world to experience the many people with whom I share this planet. My travels will help me understand the needs of different cultures and raise my awareness of various ways to engage communities. Another reason why I wish to attend in this Leadership Weekend is I see this will provide me very essential opportunity to expand and build my communication, confidence skills by interact with other people. As matter of fact, one of my future goal or dream is to sever my native country (Tibet), which is occupied by China government right now and people are suffering not having freedom of speech, freedom of religious and my younger fellow Tibetan brothers and sisters not getting equal right accessing model educations, which cause
Leadership perspectives are very important when making decisions and strategies. A leader that only sees information on one side does not have the grasp on a situation. A leadership perspective such as understanding that there are more than one way to see things and it does not have to be what you see is what you get as a leader. When a leader uses their surrounding and employees the perspective may change and rather than seeing one side they see a variety.
I took something away from the different sources of power. Power is the capacity of potential to influence. Power can corrupt good leaders. Power, by its nature, it is powerful and tasteless like carbon monoxide. The more powerful one becomes, the more likely we are to overestimate our own mental virtue. There is position, power and personal power. Power can be more deadly than drugs. Many leaders allow power to go to their heads. They forget what and who was important to them. They allow power to consume them.
The six leading styles: Ambassador (19/25), advocate (20/25), people mover (21/25), truth-seeker (20/25), creative builder (18/25), and experienced guide (21/25) scored the highest on my leadership style assessment. The characteristics which were identified as strengths of mine are mainly relationship oriented such as diffusing difficult situations, advocating in a group, seeing the potential in people, maintaining fairness and neutrality, and empathy. These were not a surprise to me as I have taken other leadership assessments and have always scored the same types of characteristics.
The project I chose to demonstrate my leadership on was to go around the Frostburg community picking up recycling and then dumping it in a local landfill. I first chose this project to work on because I thought, how could I help Frostburg and give back to the community? By recycling products and going green, these products can eventually be reprocessed and re-used without having it go to waste. I mainly decided to collect recycling to maintain and keep Frostburg clean and liter free. It establishes a healthy environment for locals, students and staff around the area. Going green and keeping the community environmentally friendly is highly stressed around the world today. Any kind
My leadership philosophy is constantly developing over time. There is not one leader that stands out individually, however there are many traits from my past leaders that I use. The traits used by my past leaders help me in the development of my philosophy throughout the years. There are several values that I think make the perfect leader. These attributes are the values of humor, the will to always improve, and trust. With these three values, one can always improve the organization while maintaining high standards and moral.
During week one of the course, I completed a project that allowed me to identify my strongest and weakest leadership traits. The project required input from six individuals with whom I have a professional relationship. They rated me in different areas based on a scale, to determine the results. I also rated myself, and when I compiled the data I was able to identify the areas of leadership that I am strongest and weakest. The results are:
I also believe that an effective leader plays a significant role in promoting and molding individuals’ readiness as it relates to motivation and commitment. As such, I developed my leadership assessment with these points in mind. The assessment focuses on 14 attributes that I believe are important not only for a leader to be successful within the parameters of the SLT, but for most any leadership model adopted by a successful leader in the modern business environment. The assessment was completed by Bobby, my manager of nearly six years, and by Katrina, my highest-ranking direct report of nearly four years. Each was asked to assign a candid rating to each attribute using a one-to-ten (worst-to-best) scale as well as to make notes or offer any suggestions so that I may incorporate it into my leadership style in an effort to improve the areas of weakness and become a better leader. In addition, I did a self-assessment using the same criteria. It should be noted that while Bobby offered both a ranking and narrative feedback, Katrina completed the assessment using the numerical ranking only. The results were consistent in some areas and mixed in others, but revealed some valuable information that I can use not only within the context of this course, but also as my career is better defined over time.
What defines leadership? There are a number of definitions of the meaning of leadership including but not limited to the theories of leadership and how leadership should work. In my opinion, every individual has different ways of confronting situations and there is not one leadership style or theory that will be flawless for any given situation. However, to be a successful educational leader, it is crucial to understand and be familiar with the various theories and styles of leadership as well as our personal tendencies to nurture a personal leadership style. Despite the method used to confront a situation, it’s the outcome of success that will determine which leadership style or theory should be used. The following
Prior to attending the Business Internship course, my knowledge and understanding on successful business leaders was very limited. Although I had heard of countless success stories in business, I had never actually understood what it took to achieve such measures of success. However, it wasn’t until we had the privilege of hearing from four different business magnates in weeks 6 -9. Each of the business leaders gave an hour’s seminar and which was aimed at providing insights into their personal lives, working experiences and the core essence of 21st century business leadership.
In class, so far, we have discussed many different topics about leadership. One being different leadership theories. The one that I feel most represents the leader I want to be in the future is servant leadership. When we discussed servant leadership it was defined as this leadership model is based on the leader and the followers wanting to serve others. Basically, this means the servant leader you put your focus on the needs of others before your own. The followers goal is to serve clients and the leader’s goal is to serve the employee and implement the organization mission statement. The leader supports other employees by noticing their goals and provide the proper support to help them reach those goals. This
