A business continued success is important and can be difficult to accomplish. This paper will discuss two topics regarding maintaining business performance for Nova – leadership in terms of authentic leadership and strategic planning, specifically business strategy with critical success factors. The first area of discussion is a summary of each of these topics. The second area of discussion is about the factors that can contribute to the success of Nova. The third area of discussion is about the factors that can contribute to the failure of Nova. Finally, the fourth area of discussion will address my recommendation on how to expand Nova into a new market of business to continue business performance. Leadership is important to an organization. There are many types of leaders in business today one of these is an authentic leader. According Luthans and Avolio, “defined authentic leadership as a process that draws from both positive psychological capacities and highly developed organizational context, which results in both greater self-awareness and self regulated positive behaviors on the part of leaders and associates, fostering positive self-development” (as cited by Avolio et al, 2009, p. 424). These four characteristics are important in an authentic leader today. It is these characteristics that make them the leaders they are. Pirouz stated (2015), “there are five common characteristics that are found to be more common in leaders, regardless of age, location or
Leadership can be defined as the process of identifying a goal, motivating others, and make them to achieve the mutually goals (Giltinane, 2013). According to Humphreys (2002), successful leaders do this by applying their leadership knowledge and skills. A good leadership is not only good at management, but also use different leadership styles in different situations. A successful corporation must has a good leader who have the flexible ability which can provide a suitable leadership to make the company successful. Furthermore, there have no perfect leadership styles in the world. Different leader have different leadership styles which also have the different strengths and weaknesses (Ali & Waqar, 2013). Leaders need to consider
It takes a lot to be a leader. It takes experience, communication, positivity, passion, and much more to be an effective leader. Communication, positivity, and passion are the three most important characteristics to me. I represent all three of these with great pride. I communicate effectively whether it be in the classroom, on
Linda S. Tyler (2016), a pharmacist and Webb Lecture award recipient stumbled upon a research, Decoding Leadership: What Really Matters that studied 180,000 participants from 81 diverse organizations worldwide. Participants were asked what leadership trait is common in your organization? Organizations with strong leadership performance commonly showed four behaviors : solve problems effectively, result oriented, welcomes different perspective and supportive of others.
Leadership is defined as the ability to accomplish a set goal(s) due to the act of inspiring and motivating a group of your peers. Former United States president Dwight D. Eisenhower made famous a quote that stated, “Leadership consists of nothing but taking responsibility for everything that goes wrong and giving your subordinates credit for everything that goes well.” (Notable-quotes.com). One of the most important aspects of the work area is leadership. Without leadership, there will be no guidance to for teamwork and the percentage of successful goal will be slim to none. Becoming a great leader is no easy feat however. An exceptional leader must lock in on specific attributes such as intellect, moral character, and human
Good leadership is also important to run a business. Usually, in companies, management stresses more on decision- making skills. They believe a timely and smart decision will help their company to succeed. They forget that implementation of those decisions are as important as making those decision. Without a proper implementation , there will be no results. Like there is a saying that, it’s easier to said than done. Similarly, making a decision will change nothing, its how to get things done in a timely and an effective way will help an organization to accomplish their goals. Leadership is crucial in implementing decisions correctly and successfully.
According to organisational behaviour by McShane, leadership is defined as influencing, motivating and enabling others to contribute towards the effectiveness and success of the organisation of which they are members (page 382, McShane).Becoming an effective leader depends on the leader’s leadership style. Successful leaders have vision and charisma, also the leader should have an ongoing personality, talkative, careful and self-disciplined. The leader must also have self-concept
A leader needs to “believe” in oneself and have the confidence that whatever you say will excite and what you do can motivate others. You must be optimistic about what you do, do have some relevance for being in existence. Believe it or not, “leadership begins with you”.
Leadership is defined in Webster’s Dictionary as the “action of leading a group of people or an organization.” Leadership is also the ability to set trends, inspire, motivate, and sway others to produce desired results. There are different styles and ways of performing leadership and a good leader has the ability to take ordinary people, put them all together, and hopefully yield successful results. For organizations to have sustained results from their performance there must be a good balance of business insight, technical and interpersonal skills, and good team dynamics. A leader must know how to use all these areas as well as trust and communicate with their people in
There are several behaviors that determine the effectiveness of leadership especially in business. A good leader will have the qualities of motivating, organizing, problem solving, listening, managing conflicts, informing, supporting, delegating, empowering, and implementing a plan of action.
Therefore, leadership plays a major role in the development of an organization into a less stressful environment and enjoyable place to work. Leaders and leadership behaviors are a vital part of organizational effectiveness (Yukl, 2006). Every organization needs leaders at various levels of operation. Leaders is instrumental in creating stability and directing managers at all level of the organization towards attainment of long-term goals and ensuring success of the organization (Navahandi, 2006). Some of the required skills a leader demonstrates are influencing, motivating, and
I have thought quite a bit about leadership and I think in order to be an effective leader one must truly care about people. An organization's success depends on the efforts of the leader's people; therefore a leader must empower, inspire, enable, encourage, and support subordinates. A leader must communicate the organization's goals, vision's, priorities and strategies in order to gain maximum commitment to organizational success. Leadership involves embracing and instilling a positive attitude. A successful leader is proactive, not afraid of making mistakes, and when one is made, they learn from it and move on. Effective leaders strive to spend more time preventing problems and less time solving them. I believe an organization is most effective when everyone has a sense of ownership and a stake in the success of the organization. There is power in group
The art of leadership is multifaceted, with areas for continued opportunity and improvement. A strong and effective leader possess a well-rounded set of skills and characteristics that allow for the group being led to be powerful followers. This is essential in order to have both leader and followers focused on a purpose and vision. Regardless of the type of organization, leadership is a necessity in a professional practice. Depending on the type of leadership, the organization can flourish or flounder. If a strong and effective leader is in charge with a clear vision in place, the organization is more likely to excel. On the contrary, with ineffective leadership in place, it creates a sense of chaos, offering minimal
If leadership was easy, everyone would be doing it. Leadership requires more than just a few hopeful words and promises. It takes passionate and knowledgeable individuals to strive for greatness and lead others to do the same. According to the author Linda Tyler in the newspaper Imprinting Leadership she stated, “The researchers distilled leadership to four behaviors: solving problems effectively, operating with a strong results orientation, seeking different perspectives, and supporting others” (3). The author is saying there is a specific approach that requires different ways of thinking about leadership behavior. There are at least six traits that any prosperous leader must have to provide effective leadership. Commitment, honesty, communication, creativity, confidence, and a positive attitude are the traits that are
In this paper, I will select an organization and prepare a strategic plan to grow the business over the next three years. This strategic plan will include certain criteria. That criteria includes:
Day today management is clearly defined by F.W. Taylor, Henry Fayol, Ma Weber, and others in classical management.
