My experience to the Menil Collection was interesting. I was able to extend my art appreciation further when collaborating lecture into the museum artwork to better enjoy the work. I visited all of the galleries and my favorite was the Flavin Installation because of the light design he chose. Within my whole experience visiting the museum I would say that the art I enjoy most is buildings of architecture. Comparing the Rothko Chapel, Flavin Installation, and the Infinity Machine they all had significant value of space in their architecture buildings. The Rothko Chapel had dark pieces on the walls, all surrounded by white. The open space in the room allowed for a place to be calm and enter your thoughts. The Infinity Machine was a very strange

Over the spring break, I chose to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with my friends Irene and Mei. We explored many exhibits such as The Egyptian Art, The American Wing, and Asian Art. I saw statues, ceramics, textiles, pottery, and paintings. I really enjoyed looking at the Sphinx and sarcophagus in the Egyptian Art section. The interior design of the museum was so well planned out in each exhibit from the lighting of the room to the smell. The interior design of the museum was so exquisite especially the atmosphere it created. I felt like I could explore the corners of the world in one building.
What's awesome about this nation is that America began the convention where the wealthiest customers purchase basically the same things as the poorest. You can be sitting in front of the TV and see Coca-Cola, and you can realize that the president drinks. There are several museums and art galleries in Houston with its unique and priceless exhibitions going on all over the year. The Menil Collection is one of the most famous art museums due to its unique exhibitions every year. It is located in, at 30-acre neighborhood of art with beautiful surroundings of downtown Houston. When I went there to have a look of the museum, I witnessed that there were large number of students there with their families and teacher for the exhibitions and they were
New York City, one of the greatest cities of the world, is remarkable because of its history, culture, and diversity. It is world renowned for its skyscrapers, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, Broadway entertainment, Radio City Music Hall, Central Park, and even restaurants specializing in ethnic foods. However, the thing that most intrigues and excites me about New York City is the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
when I first entered the museum, it felt very dark and it smelled of wood. It gave me the feeling of being at the house when it was up and running. What I noticed about the way the paintings were displayed was that in each hallway, one painting in every room would appear right in front of you, which also portrays the value of each of those paintings because
“The museum has changed people’s perception of museums, about the connections between art, architecture, and collecting.” (Freshome). Admiring the Architect, Frank O. Gehry, and how he would not just design, but how he would blend previous designs with his own and create a building made his work unforgettable.
Over the thanksgiving break I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met is an art museum in New York City that has a variety of ancient artwork from different cultures and time periods. There is paintings and sculptures from Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome and Greece. The museum is additionally home to artwork from many different time periods including ancient Near Eastern Art, Middle Ages and Europe during the Renaissance. The Met also has artwork from many different religions such as Christianity and Islam. Each section in the museum had a specific artwork that attracted my attention.
This was my first time at the Reynolda House Museum of American Art. I was very impress of the museum because I never thought it was a big museum, and I assume that they had a few collections of paintings. However, I was amazed on how many painting they did had and the variety. Out of all of the painting and sculptures, I selected three paintings: The Spirit of the Storm, Peaceable Kingdom of the Branch, and Lion in the Arena. These paintings impress me the most because of how they made me feel.
I chose to write about the art piece by Thomas Moran after going to the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. While walking through the buildings I saw a mass of artwork that ranged from gold artifacts to paintings. I have to say that it was a lot to take in but I chose the painting by Thomas Moran called the Stranded Ship on East Hampton Beach. I liked the painting with the raging water crashing on the beach with the stranded ship in the distance. I really like the contrast of the dark waves with the white spray on the beach and white caps on the waves. It seems to tell how dangerous the waves can be but there is a lot of flow. The waves seem to be choppy but big and dangerous but I can feel the sense of movement and the wind blowing. It
Next, each room of art were unique. When I get into each room, some things that surprise me that each room was very exclusive, original and uncommon. Also, the rooms were very enlightened and I personally felt that each room had something for everyone in the family. Another thing that I noted of the museum was the accessibility of each floor, so anybody can go and have a great time without
I decided to go to the Cummer Museum for my visit. This is where I went for my museum visit for Humanities I and I liked it so much I wanted to go back again. I was interested to see any of the new art that has been added to its collection since my last visit. Also the museum just had its 50th anniversary and had an exhibit of art that was purchased for its anniversary. I was also interested in the traveling exhibit they had set up which was Impressionism and Post Impressionism from the High Museum of Art. Here is a list of art that I found to be very interesting:
My visit to the Menil collection was an opportunity to learn and experience the wonders of science and natural history. The museum was free admission, so I did not have to pay which was good. The stunning exhibits from all over the world offers an extraordinary approach.
An inventory of initial personal reactions to the museum includes sensations like eccentric, abstract, and exotic. The building is nice to look at. It has a good sense of movement caused by its wide openings throughout the bottom and cervices at the top and middle of the building. The bottom is wider and it gets smaller in different areas depending on where the domes are located. All the different angles and stunning designs sculpted on each section of the building seems edgy and innovative. The building does seem inviting, impressive, and influential.
The Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art in the Brooklyn Mesuem showcases various exhibitions dedicated to feminist art, in its many shapes and forms. Zanele Muholi: Isibonelo/Evidence is one such exhibition dedicated not to just feminist art, but also displays black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people and their struggle for visibility as well as recognition. Prior to visting the mesum, I reviewed some of the readings that I wanted to comare to the exhibit. They included “Gay is Good” by Martha Shelley and “Womanism” by Alive Walker, which dealt with homophobia and the battle against oppression by colored women respectively. From what I gathered
