My Teaching Philosophy Statement
There are many teachers, with many different teaching styles. There are teachers who are strict and do not allow for any disruptions in the classroom. Then we have teachers who do not even really care what is going on in the classroom. The way that these teachers, and so many more, teach is a result of their personal philosophies on education.
Before you can decide how you want to run your classroom, you need to remember that not all students learn in the same way. Some learn by doing things on their own, while others learn better in groups. Some students learn with rote memorization and others learn from doing. Every classroom has students of every kind. So, when you are thinking about

I also feel that the teacher should be there to encourage the students to think for themselves, let the student find the answers to their own questions sometimes. The teacher should guide them in the right direction but they should not always take them straight to the answer.
The classroom that I teach will be run in a democratic fashion. When we are at a place in our lessons where we can have choices, we will vote. This way everyone will have a chance to do something that they enjoy. This way they will not just be another student in the class but they will actually be part of the class. I hope to be a classroom where it will be possible for the students to sit in small groups of three or four, with the groups spaced out around the room. On the bulletin boards, I would have materials that were funny and motivational at the same time. Interspersed with those materials, I would have materials that deal with course content. I would also like to have class projects throughout the year that will correlate with the content that we are covering at that time. These projects would serve as hands on experiences for the students.
I hope that I am a combination of authoritarian and non-authoritarian. I want my students to know what I expect and to respect that. Likewise, I do not want to constantly be yelling and punishing students. I want the students to come in and be ready to do their work for the
I will establish an authoritarian classroom to make sure the students behave. I will not be a strict teacher, but I will have to stand up enough to be in control of them. I will keep the classroom organized the particular way I described earlier unless the need to rearrange the room occurs. To help keep up students’ motivation I will try a variety of teaching methods and supplements to keep things interesting. I will try my best to keep a constant good attitude and not take out my personal frustrations on my pupils.
The teacher must know how to set the tone for the classroom and ensure that it is a productive learning environment. The teacher wants to avoid anything that would provoke them negatively as well as the students. At the same time, they must know what is needed to reinforce good behavior.
Education is defined as the lifelong process of acquiring knowledge, skills, and values through either formal means, such as schooling, or informal means, such as firsthand experiences or vicarious experiences gained through reading books or discussions. Every person that is or wants to be a teacher has his or her own educational philosophy. We all have our own views, methods, and curriculum that we were taught when growing up. A lot of people may have the same teachers in school, but all of them learn different things from that teacher.
My philosophy of classroom management is to allow students to be responsible for their own behavior at all times. I believe allowing students to be responsible for their behavior and actions allow them to have a sense of freedom. When students have freedom, they seem to be more successful and respectful. Classroom management is more successful when the class is student-centered. Students should be included in the planning of classroom rules, room arrangement, and communication should flow smoothly between teacher and student. Although the class is student-centered the teacher should be in control of the classroom. The teacher should know what is going on at all times, plan interesting and informative lessons, and be
I think my classroom will provide the optimum learning experience because it will have the setup of an appropriate kindergarten classroom but it will always be lots of fun and the classroom will be full of color so the students will never get bored of it. My students will always have a voice to express any ideas and if they are logical enough I will consider them because my classroom is all about making my students comfortable. The children
The authoritative orientation of management focuses on control exercised by the teacher. In the authoritative orientation, the teacher demonstrates a lack of personal connection to the students in an atmosphere that can feel fearful and punitive. The classroom environment of an instructor who subscribes to the authoritative orientation is an environment where rules are absolutely enforced, and where the instructor frequently lectures. The authoritative teacher has little interest in student involvement, but does however, insist upon establishing and maintaining high behavioral expectations and classroom rigor. Authoritative teachers are found especially suitable by administrators for “trouble-making” classes as they are efficient in maintaining order. While the authoritative teacher may seem “scary” or undesirable, they are also frequently identified as friendly with established and firm boundaries. Authoritative teachers praise and motivate their students, promote respect in the classroom, engage heavily in cooperative learning and interactive discovery in the classroom.
Teaching is a profession which allows one to influence many lives. It is because of this opportunity to touch lives that I have decided to enter the teaching profession. I understand that the benefits of this profession are mostly intrinsic as opposed to extrinsic, yet the thought of inspiring students to learn drives me closer to the teaching profession. Monetary gain from a certain profession is minimal compared to the feeling that at the end of the day you have touched someone’s life. To summarize, the reason that I am entering the teaching profession, is my conviction to touch lives.
Every teacher has a different method of teaching. The teachers that I have had in my school career have been no exception. In this way, each teacher has set an example for me, as a future teacher, to follow or not to follow as I see fit. With the examples from my teachers and in continuing my education, I am developing my own method of teaching. I plan to use a combination of teaching methods in my own classroom. My method will be an eclectic approach because I will be using components of more than one philosophy. I will be using essentialism, behaviorism, progressivism, and existentialism.
If there’s any one thing that I genuinely enjoy about my observation time in various classrooms, it must be the exposure to so many different schools of thought and techniques when it comes to running/managing a class. I have seen my share of teachers and age groups over the past couple of years, and it never ceases to amaze me how each one of the teachers can put their own little twist on how the class functions. As a result of these various techniques, I have been fortunate enough to see a wide assortment of teaching strategies, student responses, and assessments put to use.
The first procedure I would implement in my room would be Entering the Room appropriately. The students will be instructed to enter quietly and politely. The students know not to wear hats and to not interrupt their peers. In the morning, they will get their journal out and complete their Bell Work. This routine will help them understand what is expected of them. There will be no distractions at the beginning of class because the students will be completing their assignment leading to a smooth transition into instruction. The environment is efficient as the students are challenged to prepare themselves quietly and for their day. Each Bell Work will be assigned through the projector. Their journals will be
A classroom management plan is essential in order for a teacher to affect student learning. An effective plan will take into consideration many factors. First and foremost the focus must be on the content of the material to be taught. The teacher must plan the academic lessons thoroughly. It is important to keep your eye on the ball. Your goals for the academic progress must be at the heart of this plan. Therefore you must know where you are taking this class, before a path can be chosen. In this respect, I share the philosophy of William Glasser. He believes that the key to classroom management is a vital interesting curriculum. A need for this curriculum must be demonstrated to be relevant in their everyday lives, and
The teacher that I observed at the school was observing at was authoritative. She was warming and demanding towards her student 's. The teacher’s approach to classroom management at the school I was observing was she would teach her lesson on the carpet at circle time and then she would have the children transition to the
This belief really caught my attention, as Dewey (1897) puts it, I believe that the teacher's place and work in the school is to be interpreted from this same basis.” “The teacher is not in the school to impose certain ideas or to form certain habits in the child, but is there as a member of the community to select the influences which shall affect the child and to assist him in properly responding to these influences”. Educators seem to believe that preparing lessons surrounding students which also include their input would cause them to lose authority of the students in a student-centered
One of the teachers duties is to teach. In this teaching activity, of course, can not be done carelessly, but must use certain theories and principles of learning in order to act appropriately. Effective teachers will be different from ordinary teachers. Effective teachers will give a touch that is relatively targeted and more oriented to build motivation. This is what distinguishes an effective teacher from an ordinary teacher who simply teaches and delivers materials according to the curriculum without accompanying the application of the personality functions of the teacher himself. Often teachers ignore it when motivating students is important to support success in student learning so they feel that they are perceived to exist and participate in the learning process. In addition, teachers who used traditional method they are based solely on the teaching of subject matter, and also only allow students to provide standard answers derived from textbooks so as to not encourage students to have personal opinions. In addition, forcing students to abide by a teacher plan such as the example of "Your answer is correct", but because it does not fit the way the teacher teaches your score should be reduced ", how many students can not make their own decisions, take what class they want, how to do the things he wants, everything must be in accordance with the wishes of the school and teachers So students are not free individuals, but like inmates who have to do everything according to the rules Imagine if students choose them Have a final assignment Students with drawing likes, create
I will organize my classroom as displayed in the diagram above. I will have an instructional loop so that I will be able to access all of my students easily. In my classroom, I will have a collaborative table so that I will be able to work with a group of students at a time while others are working at their chairs. There will be room in front of the smart board so that students will be able to stand up and move around to use that instructional tool while I am educating them. As a class, the circle time area will be used daily. Where the student cubbies are, I will also have center items in the top cubbies that the students can take to their desk to work on when the time is available to do so.
