In this class we have learned body compositions(nutrition), cardiovascular, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility. We did many physical activities like yoga, ab workout, and sport workout. Coach Hunter has taught us with lecture and psychical activities about each one of them.
First, the lecture parts were nutrition has six categories: protein, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, vitamins and water. Essentials nutrients have three primary functions in the body are providing energy, building and repairing body tissue, and regulating body process. Carbohydrates it functions as the main source of energy and major sources: grains, fruits, and vegetables. Protein works is to repair tissue, regulate internal water and acid base balance; helps in growth and energy. In this assignment I will be describing the characteristics of nutrients and the benefits to the body.
To determine the level of my fiber intake from a 3 day sample of my diet, I performed a Prospective Diet Analysis. On average, I consumed 22.3 grams of fiber, just missing the recommendation of 25 grams. Coherent to the findings of the related studies, my cholesterol intake decreased and by the third day totaled 124.5 mg, which relates to 42% of the Daily Recommended Intake of 300 mg.

Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously
Change is good, this is something that has often been said throughout history, the mind is an open book ready to consume additional information. During the last eight weeks of class there has been many things that Foundation of Nutrition, SPHE 395, has highlighted for the students, in order to assist them in fine tuning their craft in the sports and health industry. There where numerous area that where focused on over the last eight weeks. During part two of this final assignment there we were asked to state five things that we learned during the eight weeks of learning. One of things that I must say is the fact that I know little or nothing about Nutrion before this class, but during the course there were several that would help me during my career. The five area that where important to my learning where the highlighting of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, maternal nutrition for infants, and the benefits of alcohol. After the review of this information there will be detailed concluding thoughts what I think of the class after the concluding week.
Nutrition- Nutrition is a course which mainly puts emphasizes on basic nutritional concepts and principles, their application to personal health and relationship between food and its use by the human body for regulation, energy, structure, and good health. Discussion of problems in nutrition during different stages of the life cycle and specific chronic diseases will be addressed.
I have been consumed with the difficult decision prior to the start of this semester between my choice of majors and have unfortunately come to the incorrect conclusion. After attending class, interacting with peers in my classes it has become apparent that changing my major to Nutrition and Dietetics from apparel is clearly more suited for my career path. While I'm very interested in fashion my true passion and overall lifestyle is more consistent in the Nutritional and dietetics disciplines. Since graduating from high school I have become deeply committed to body sculpting which requires not only a strict work out program but also a strict dietary regiment designed by professionals. I live by example experiencing first hand the benefits and importance of appropriate nutrition and the
It’s been a stressful journey figuring out my future plans. I’ve spent the last couple years toying with different ideas of where I might be later in life. I decided I wanted to study nutrition my junior year of high school. I watched the documentary Forks over Knives and realized if I don’t change my lifestyle and eating habits now, then when would I? I began watching what I put into my body. I first cut out soft drinks and fast food. Then I slowly cut out meat products. It wasn’t long before I noticed a difference in my energy levels and weight loss. While making these changes in my life, I began reading books on vegan/vegetarianism and keeping up with health-related documentaries (The Gerson Miracle, The Beautiful Truth, Killer At Large; just to name a few). I
Course Learning Objectives: In Nutrition, we explore the ever-evolving science of nutrition. Human nutrition is influenced by endogenous and exogenous factors. We will discuss related topics such as stress, environment, food processing, digestion, safety, and
When I started my college journey I wasn’t sure how, but I knew I wanted to help people. After completing a nutrition course and I was amazed by the impact that nutrition has on the human body. It was then when I decided to pursue a career in Dietetics, I wanted mycareer to be applicable to my personal life. because I wanted to study something that would be applicable to my daily life. My family has struggled with Hypertension and Diabetes for a number of years, which also motivates me to learn about disease prevention through nutrition. I am passionate about nutrition and helping others achieve a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing through a healthy well balanced diet. I enjoy being exposed to new things that can expand my knowledge (move to a
In the past few weeks, I have attempted to exercise at least 5 times a week, challenge myself by eating more fruits and veggies, drinking more water, eating more superfoods, and getting at least 8 hours of sleep at night. I also worked on overall improving my own wellness with more meditation, winding down at night before sleeping, and dumping the processed, unhealthy foods. At the beginning, I thought this would be simple, but as days passed, I soon realized how unhealthy my usual lifestyle is and how much better I was feeling focusing more on my health. From running a mile around the neighborhood to sleeping more at night, I saw an improvement physically and mentally.
The lesson that was completed in stage three directly aligns with the Common CoreStandards and are things that should be accomplished at the fourth-grade level. The concepts that were taught were all factors that would help illustrate the bigger picture to students so they could understand the logic behind this lesson.By the fourth grade, students need to have a good grasp on nutrition. They need to understand why healthy eating is important and ways they can achieve that. They are beginning to think for themselves and need to know that important choices with food is imperative for their health. By having them complete pamphlets that would be distributed, they need to understand what they are promoting. By having them go through the different steps that were in stage three, they were able to gather that information and help them boost their understanding of nutrition and healthy foods. Throughout stage three, technology was used in planning and helping the students achieve their learning goals. The first example of the lesson accomplishing this was when the students had to watch the nutrition video on the computer on the first day of the lesson. This was an informative video that was age appropriate. I think that without the students watching this video they would have had a difficult time reaching their goals with this lesson and future, related lessons. By having the students view this video it helped them connect the content and specific learning goals. They were
We are required to obtain certain amount of nutrients from food. Food can simply divide into 2 groups, macro-nutrients and micro-nutrients composition. Both of the groups mentioned do affect the metabolism rate. According to Hulbert and Else, dietary fatty acid will affect the metabolism rate and some of the polyunsaturated fatty acid will increase the metabolism rate (1999). Meanwhile, different kinds of animals have their own unique requirement for macro-nutrients, such as proteins, carbohydrates and fat. Moreover, most of the food intake is driven by achieving the required protein intake. Animals on a low protein diet will over eat carbohydrates and fat until the protein requirement has been satisfied. If this case
