Many people seem to think that this presidential election is a heated and controversial debate between the Republican and Democratic Party. Some seem to think that as a nation we have never had such contention in an election and that we will never be able to recover from such damage that this election will cause. But history tends to repeat itself in our nation; for example, some of our past elections have caused fear in citizens’ eyes just like this election has done. An example of this is, the presidential election of 1800 between Thomas Jefferson and James Adams, this election caused great worry during that time period. The 2016 presidential election seemed to be a particularly hectic election. On November 8,2016, I was checking my Facebook newsfeed. As I scrolled through my newsfeed, I see a lot of posts related to the election. People would post opinions on each of the presidential candidates as well as which their predictions of which candidate will win. The newspaper websites provided frequent updates throughout the day to inform people about the progress of the election. That night, I watched tentatively as the ballots were being counted, and I saw people’s comments of shock and disbelief when Trump managed to get ahead of Hillary in terms of electoral college votes.

This presidential election is gearing up to be one of the most if not the most interesting, and strange presidential election in the history of the United States of America. In addition, both Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton are not very loved by the American people. Many individuals feel as if Clinton is a rotten liar and should be in federal prison, and on the other hand many Americans are scared of trump and his ideologies. Sadly, one of them will win the race to the White House, unless something shady occurs. Nevertheless, candidates always make mistakes during their campaigns; sometimes costly mistakes. Though many political scientists have been in favor of Clinton winning this election, there four costly mistakes she can make that can cost her the election. This year’s election has reached new extremes that were never predicted to come about. We have two candidates that are both unfit to run America based on past occurrences and current ordeals. Along with this, there is bound to be arising conflict, yet who knew it would become as horrible as it is?

The 2016 election is one of the most controversial Presidential races the United States has seen. One reason for this is the increased polarity of the country towards a specific political party. However, members of the parties may not all support the same candidate.For example, Donald Trump has been denounced for “insufficient conservatism” by members of his own party (Breitbart 1). Yet he is still running on the Republican ticket and will receive the votes of the majority of Republicans, simply because he is the Republican candidate, even though many Republicans (leaders and voters) do not support him.

The 2016 presidential election has polarized both Democratic and Republican voters into increasingly solidified voting blocs. The Clinton and Trump campaigns have individually targeted different undecided voter typologies which play important roles in attempting to secure a winning electoral coalition. This essay will assess the policy positions of Clinton’s campaign and evaluate their appeals to various typologies set out by Pew Research Center. Every four years, the United States’ citizens elect a new president. The election is held in November, but campaigning starts almost a whole year before the election month. Candidates compete on a daily basis for the one position some people only dream of holding. With this election on the horizon, voters need to take time to understand who the contenders are and what their main objects will be once they arrive in office.

In the history of the United States, the 2016 election cycle is the 57th presidential election, yet it could be the strangest of them all. After exploring their theory, I will use their theory to look at the 2016 Democratic primary and assess whether or not it is useful when applied to primaries or if the theory only pertains to the general election. Finally, I will then apply their theory to the 2016 general election to predict the most likely outcome where Hilary Clinton is the next president of the United States. Looking at Sides and Vavreck’s theory and applying it to the current electoral environment, it will become clear that Hilary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination for president and subsequently the general election as well to become the first female president of the United States.

Wherever your political allegiance may lie, you cannot possibly doubt that this has been a very turbulent election season. The two leading candidates -- Donald Trump (R) and Hillary Clinton (D) -- have risen to the top, defying all expectations along the way. Trump managed to surpass 16 rival Republicans despite (or even because of) no real political experience and countless offensive remarks. Clinton, meanwhile, has inched out past Trump despite numerous scandals and suspicious connections. Yet even with these obstacles overcame, they remain two of the most reviled candidates in U.S. history, even amongst their own parties. The basis for my paper is a touchy subject and can often lead to heated debates on both sides of the political aisle. So far the election has seen numerous accounts of mudslinging and accusations against both candidates, with the end in sight who will rise above it all? With so many questions about both of our candidates at a pivotal time in our countries history who will be the next to lead.
