As my time with Accenture comes to an end, I am now beginning to reflect on the weeks I have spent here. From the confusing first week of not knowing anyone to learning how to do data analysis and how to speak to professionals, this has been by far one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
It was nerve-wracking the week before my internship, I was not sure of what to expect from a company that is made for people who know so much about technology. Here I am, barely graduating from high school that same month without experience. I expected serious people without social lives, being told what do every day without training, and meeting people who are far older than me. Accenture is everything but that, which has left such a high standard in my mind.
I have met with 10 employees in these past 6 weeks for their input on what makes Accenture so different and advice to help me get through my years at Texas A&M University. I have concluded that no matter where I go, I will encounter people that have similar backgrounds as mine. Not everyone at this location is from San Antonio, Texas, however many of us here have goals that we have set for ourselves that could not be thought of when we were growing up. For example, Jason Jiang and Brian Reyes, have come to this company to build themselves as individuals because it was not an option growing up. Jason is from China and moved to New York City at a young age, his parents, like mine, are unable to speak English but wish to still provide us with the resources we need to succeed. Brian is from Puerto Rico and his family is important to him as much as mine is to me, which is why he had enlisted in the military and has moved to San Antonio for job opportunities although he would love to move back to Puerto Rico. In other words, Accenture serves as a steppingstone to many of its employees, and it will continue to do so as it expands itself to impact lives through this Apprenticeship Program.
Similarly, Accenture’s project managers find it very important for their workers to have a separation of work and family. It is up to the employee to continue their work once they are out of the office. Unlike the portrayal of office workers that television and films give, Accenture makes
My internship experience proved to be valuable in terms of exposure and knowledge. Attending the M-1 Rail Community Advisory Council meetings were very rewarding. I was able to observe and interact with the public on their thoughts about M-1 Rail. The internship has taught me that it is important to learn how to demonstrate professionalism but courteous behavior at all times. My internship has definitely given me a better understanding of my skill, but most importantly, I’ve come to learn that I am not alone. This job has taught me that almost everybody is in my same position. Thanks to my I know that if I continue to work hard things will fall into place. Being my first position in an office atmosphere, I didn’t know exactly what to expect.
Employment continues to be one of the fastest growing industries. Employment can be found about in any occupations. Jobs vary from a business setting, to Production Company, to small organizations and more. Above all, employment comes with requirements and knowledge’s that employers seek to satisfy their needs. If one does not meet the requirement nor have the qualifications it is a competitive industry that continues to impact many job seekers and had impacted my parents. My mother who migrated to America over thirty years ago had experienced several of employment opportunities. An American born, I understand that my work experience may be different to my mother. To compare and contrast it will allow me to evaluate the different work experiences
As an accounting major, I would have preferred to intern for a company that would utilize my accounting skills. There were not that many accounting and finance opportunities that were offered for this semester. Sadly, there was a student who dropped the internship due to the lack of accounting firms who were interested in taking on an intern. However, the internship organization was flexible and accommodating to all the interns. Chris Gaines has been a vital part of the internship program. My experience has been positive due to Chris Gaines direct interaction during weeks where we met as a class and always readily in
I was lucky enough to be able to do my intern at the same organization that I am currently
Today, executives are having a rough time juggling between the demands of the workplace and those of their families and other personal responsibilities. In a bid to meet targets and other organizational goals and objectives, business executives in addition to traveling extensively also tend to dedicate long hours to office work.
What was missing or disappointing, if anything, about this internship? What was especially rewarding and educational?
In this article, Laurie Granieri describes her work experience. Being dedicated to work was one important thing that her dad taught her the whole life. Her dad was a very hardworking man who was also a cancer patient. Watching her dad getting weaker day by day, she learned that it is important to do things that mean the most to her. Laurie Granieri did not want to end up suffering like her dad who worked day and night and ended up in hospital because of work stress. Laurie would rather work fewer hours and go home right after work to spend time with her family. She values this moment and thinks that it is definitely worth it to get off from work on time and enjoy her life.
I have been interning with Morningstar in Sydney for almost a month. Having no previous experience in finance and business world, I consider every day at the office extremely exciting and thrilling.
The company staff initiative launched in corporate and social responsibility project "We care." The company's employees ripen thought themselves to implement actions required on a daily basis and in relation to their working environment (ergonomic
In the last sixteen weeks, I have spent my time as an intern at Great American Insurance Company in Cincinnati, OH. I was interning as an IT Desktop Technician for the Annuity Group. Interning in this position meant being apart of a Desktop IT team, which consisted of two full-time employees and myself. Throughout my interning time, I have learned a lot of new things, improved on some of my weaknesses, and also strengthened some of my strengths.
Byron, I enjoyed reading your posted. Your comment Learning organizations are able to transform industry changes through constant learning of its members, is an important statement. When you have an organization that invest in their employees have some of the strongest employees throughout the industry. Organization that doesn’t invest in the training of their employee experience different controversial within the company because of the untrained employees that doesn’t have the ability to make wise decision in their job function.
This summer, I worked for almost three weeks as an unpaid intern with Adaptive Symbiotic Technologies (AST) and greatly enjoyed the entire experience. Though every job has both pros and cons, I hope it will become evident that, at least in this situation, the positive experiences greatly outnumbered the negatives.
I was very excited to begin my internship at Paul Hastings, as it was my first real experience in corporate America. I’ve had multiple internships before, but I never felt like I was pushed into a better professional. Upon beginning this internship, I was looking forward to a challenge and that is absolutely what I got.
The purpose of the article is to discuss what organizations can do to adopt more effective management of professional and private life. Organizations need to help employees define the boundaries between home and work. These boundaries should be more flexible than they currently are, the value of transition time between home and work should be recognized, and family should be more consciously included into career and human resource management. What the two authors proposed was a new way of looking at the issue: analysis of the daily transitions both physical and psychological between work and home. They have
Finally, and in order to support all these efforts, Accenture provides training about inclusion and diversity to its workforce. The training is divided into three areas: Diversity Awareness, Diversity Management and Professional Development
