I studied a large amount of information in Dr. Patterson’s RECR 4150. In his class, we learned how to develop and implement a recreational program plan, while also assessing needs and goal/objective writing about topics pertaining to our events. I believe this allowed me to develop into a better critical thinker because his class requires us to learn the process of program planning and reflect on ways to improve our leisure services development. After taking this class for about four months, I understood that it was more essential than I realized because it showed me how to be an effective recreation programmer. When I was attending in his research methods class, not only am I understanding how to better data analysis but I am also applying the information from the needs assessment into my program plan, forming my own thoughts (while sharing my ideas to my group members in class), and incorporating strategies from my fellow colleagues to increase the number of participants we’ll have in our event. I appreciate the qualities that this Programming course gives to us …show more content…
To summarize what I retained in class, I would have to say that I mastered how to learn. I obtained a better understanding on how to evaluate participants’ information can lead to various way to improve our program leisure experience. For example, I believe that two surveys for our evaluation plan would be helpful with the programming format which enables the patrons to look at what they really like about our program and what they don’t like. I also learned how to implement various procedures when it comes to event planning for improving the quality of life within a community. With our program plan, it taught us how to develop and conduct a program management, marketing/promotion, animation (meaning how things in the program will be unveiled), and an evaluation
I did learn a lot from the classes. Every week, the person who delivered the speech would give really useful information. The lady Veronica from CCO gave us the tips on how to create our resume and what will be useful when you are having an interview. Although I am not going to get a job after graduation, I still got a lot of useful information.
One huge impact I learned instantly is how you communicate with your client. I had to strengthen my communication skills because I needed to communicate with my clients in vocabulary that I knew they would understand. Communicating with a fellow peer, who is knowledgeable about taxes, is a different situation that of when you are speaking with a client. A client most likely doesn’t know the exact, in-depth details about taxes, which can lead to complications and confusion, so I had to adjust my lexicon to fit the clients’ needs and understanding. Also, working with partners was great. It gave me an opportunity to work with others and solve problems in a group. Sometimes, when one of us didn’t know the answer, the other one would step in and help. Also, I felt like the class was a gigantic supportive group because we would ask and answer each other questions, when we a confused about a topic or area.
In this essay I will analyze my abilities acquired thus far through my 515 course using my practice application sheet as measurement.
In month 12, finally at the finish line and accomplished all the goals since month 1 of the Mastery course through learning creativity, research, and logical reasoning. However, these skills still apply within this course. The three takeaways from this course that I learned was ethics and moral reasoning, copyrighting, and creating the experience map.
It is a very interesting question. I must admit my answer varies considerably, based on who asks the question. To my parents, family and friends that the majority of whom are in or were in Health Care roles or related fields supporting Health Care IT in facilities. I say the class relates to the systems designed to capture all data surrounding the functioning and services supported by health care facilities, providers and recipients. Then turn this information into information to support treatment, billing, procedure and disease tracking, and enhance patient safety. It too covers the rules and regulations set forth by varying authority and accrediting agencies on the appropriate and proper acquisition, use, and dissemination of the information. This group, being so close to the topic, was the most free in expressing their
Most of the concepts we went over I already had at least some experience in but I always learned something new. The two classes I learned the most in were the backpacking class and wilderness medicine class. Numerous valuable lessons I tend to use in the future were taught. I can’t wait to confidently go spend time in the outdoors this summer.
As the semester progressed through this class, I became more comfortable and confident in preparing and presenting lessons to the class. As a teacher, that will be important for the rest of my life. Also during this semester, I did an internship which required me to write three lesson plans and teach two of them at the school I was placed. When it came time to teach
The class has helped me develop self- discipline, respect for authority, helped me strengthen my character, showed me that Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM) and helped me to know HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT. Learning these things was amazing and I’m still learning new stuff every day! Let me give you an example of HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT.
I learned not to be afraid to fail. Failure makes me think about my ideas in a different way. It helps me to go on other paths of exploring. Empathy. I got a real understanding about how using empathy can aid in solving problems. Using empathy when interviewing someone made me focus in on the small aspects of solving things by talking to people and listening to what they had to say. Ideate. I learned how to brainstorm in a better and more fruitful way. Thinking about coming up with ideas from different vantage points was a real
I think I learned a lot about my teamwork skills. I am such a perfectionist and like to get things done early. Working with a group makes it changeling, because people had different time schedules. I think I learned that I am someone who engages with a project more often then my group, because I want to get my work done. My goal for this whole semester in this class was to get an A, and I think with
Throughout the duration of GSW 1120, I have learned to critique articles, write an argument synthesis, do an annotated bibliography, and research properly. Now with this current information I have learned, I can cognitively plan out what I will write in future papers.
I chose to include this as one of my spotlight pieces because it turned out better than I thought. When I was first writing this, I had a few drafts. I wanted it to be something that would keep the reader’s attention. I started off with the whole story rhyming but that got rather boring. For one, I feel this piece best exemplifies PWV.02 (organize, draft, and revise their writing, employing forms and stylistic elements appropriate for their purpose and audience.) When writing stories, you can’t just jump into stories and make it as you go. You have to have a set plan because it will make the writing process easier. I feel like this also falls under RWV.01 (identify their strengths as writers and areas where they could improve, and assess the
The most important part was the course structure. Initially, when the class was being divided into teams, I hoped that I would team up with people whom I already know like it happens in the other courses. But when I was put into a group of people I was meeting for the first time, things were lot different than I expected. The group assignments and case studies played a very important part by bringing the team together. Also initially, I didn’t understand the essence of having hybrid classes but at the end of the semester, I realize that it’s essential to have such a course structure where the learnings have to be self-made on the basis of the input provided. Shifting the focus to the content, most important learning to me was time and stress management under pressure. My next major learning was the triple constraints. I was always someone who favored SWOT analysis and now I started combining it with the triple constraints and it has just been yielding better results. Also, the lecture on communication skills; soft and hard skills, helped me to find the out areas in which I needed improvement. The major learning aspects of the course like working in a team, managing and delivering successful projects, applying best practices to plan the project, estimating and scheduling task work, duration and cost, and implementing risk management techniques and mitigation strategies were imparted in a constructive way that would help in
I have learned many things in my Methods semester, either through the classes themselves, or through my observation hours. I learned that handling different learners isn’t like learning about them in a classroom, and that technology is one of the most important aspects of student life. I learned what my goals are, and what my strengths and weaknesses are as well.
One course that I feel made a big impact on me through this program was week 5 of PEDG 5373 Student Expectations and Motivations. I completed this course the summer before my second year of teaching. My first year of teaching was all about learning how I would function in the classroom and thanks to this course, my second year became about how my students functioned in the classroom. I learned how to recognize the different types of motivations and how to tap into that for each student. With that in mind, I can now create lessons that will appeal to my students by motivating them and giving them some ownership in their learning. The week five presentation was one that I was very proud of and was able tweak this year and use to train other teachers about student motivation.
