INTRODUCTION:
The cinema industry was the premier industrialized form of mass entertainment to be introduced to the world by mankind. Back in the earliest years of the 20th century, going to a theatre was considered an elite thing. It’s growth sprouted across the western countries as the most rapidly increasing profitable industry, even during the war times (Wright, 2012). For more than a century, it has served as a social hub. As we entered into the modern era, the cinema industry had to adhere with the changing world that revolves around modernization and technology to bring something new to the screen.
Digital convergence has a huge and crucial impact on the cinema industry. It has titled the industry towards the advanced level of implementing technology’s digital toys. With the advent of the digital world, the cinema Industry has undergone drastic changes and the result comprises mixed responses and reviews. To measure the impact of convergence on the industry is difficult to simplify and quantify in terms of figures but it permits us to go ahead without settling with just one result (Fair, 2006). With more and more innovations coming into existence, media convergence plays a pivotal role in the film industry. So why do researchers suspect that this would turn out as a flaw and ultimately the end of cinemas? Do people prefer to watch 3D movies on their flat-screens rather than watching it in a theatre, where they actually get to experience the effect of 3 or 4
