Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder has made a negative impact a strong among the younger population. Those who classify as having ADHD are often seen as being disruptive, distracting during class and unable to pay attention. This behavior will not only impact the child, but as well as the family of the child, their peers and along with other factors too. For those in various settings, those don’t often realize the main causes of what indicates certain behaviors in the classroom and other locations. As a helping professional, this would have an awareness for everyone to effectively address the needs of the person. There has been an increase of children in the school setting known as having ADHD in elementary school due to the way the child acts, behaves or their attention span. Unfortunately, there can be other significant reasons as to what is causing these symptoms to show and the child to have these behaviors. By looking closely at when the symptoms arise and what is being done will then determine if the child indeed has ADHD. Children should not be assigned to a disorder when they reach a certain age or act in a unique way due to that other factors can influence that too. After a period of time, the diagnosis should be determined in order to assist the life of the individual and if they feel that their live can be improved. By placing children with a disorder impacts their lives once they know they aren’t like the others. It has been estimated that there is between 3-5% of children that will have ADHD in the United States which equals to 2 million children total. In addition, those that don’t have ADHD will then have fewer hospital stays, emergency room visits and a total medical cost. There are multiple factors that have been connected to having ADHD. When some children are experiencing behavioral issues, it has been influence by components of food. These behaviors aren’t always positive, as it is more seen as negative. In the article it mentioned “It has become more evident that nutrition plays a major role in the genesis of ADHD.” Sometimes, this is often not looked at. When today, medication would be the “cure” to fix problems when there can be other ways of improving or resolving such things. This is shown as an increasing concern. Often times there has been a difficult matching of either if food does impact or not impact the behavior in the children with ADHD. It has been ongoing for a period of time, so it is undecided if it can be a culprit.
