The leadership self-assessment above indicates own leadership strengths, specifically interpersonal skills. These skills include verbal and non-verbal communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and assertiveness. As a matter of point, interpersonal skills build strong working relationship among employees, hence, improving efficiency in management. Besides, political skills help to manage the organizational politics and reduce workplace conflicts (Hersey, Ken, and Dewey 15). However, self-assessment indicated some weakness in analytical and drama fairness skills that needs development.
Self-assessment exercise also showed self-leadership skills, such as the ability to listen well, think logically, and make quality and timely decisions. At the workplace, such listening skills facilitate the effective sharing of information between the management and employees. Most importantly, critical thinking is essential in the workplace because it helps solve issues experienced at the workplace (Montana and Charnov 31). A good leader is expected to show the direction to followers as they assume their leader is competent and can provide good guidance. In the absence of a good leader, teamwork can be associated with stumbling blocks due to conflicts. At this time, a team leader needs to think critically to identify ways to solve difficult situations. The aim is to make the team achieve its objectives. For these reasons, logical thinking and creative skills are

Simple actions like “Communicating what will remain the same after change…” or “Involving more members of an organization in planning a change [may] increase commitment to making the change successful.” I personally believe that I am capable in handling changes if I were managing or leading others because

The impact from learning about interpersonal skills and leadership has engaged my citizenship at work and in my personal life as well. Leaders must have a solid understanding of how their emotions and actions affect the people around them, especially with the many challenges and opportunities that arise when working with others (Philips, 2012). The better a person relates and works with people the more successful he or she will be. The characteristics
Leadership takes on many faces depending on the responsibilities and environments that are available (Rubino, Esparza & Chassiakos, 2014). However, some basic qualities are universal to all effective leaders. Emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills form part of crucial leadership qualities (Parker, Sakfloske & Stough, 2009). Emotional intelligence, basically, refers to the ability of an individual to understand and interpret emotions effectively. The paper is based on a self-assessment on leadership qualities.
I am a very goal oriented person and will help people to achieve my goal or theirs if I can. Everything I do is because of a goal that was set either by myself or by a situation. I’ve had many times in my life where that has served me well, but at times it has also created a moment of loss of understanding.
As I reflect back on my Air Force career, especially my current duty position as the Section Chief of the Small Air Terminal at Hill Air Force Base. I realized that I am a Management by Exception-Active (MBE-A) this came to me after I reviewed my Electronic Self-Assessment of Leadership behavior. At my current assignment I keep my subordinates and processes in control and I enforce all the Air Force standards as well as local policies in my organization. When it comes to the mission I avoid unnecessary risks and always ensure the mission is complete. My goal for the next three to five years is to improve my leadership effectiveness and become a transformational leader using the five most valuable concepts I learned in Course 15. These concepts are avoiding conflict, cognitive flexibility, communication, subordinate-centered communication and mediation.
I scored an eighty-seven (87) on the How Good Are Your Leadership Skills? Self-assessment quiz, which rated my skills as excellent. This score was not surprising to me because I’ve worked hard to become the best leader possible, and leading people is something I enjoy. Motivating people to achieve or surpass a particular goal is rewarding to me.

The Leadership and Self- Assessment results in six types of leaders: Ambassador, advocate, people mover, truth seeker, creative builder and experienced guide. With the assessment I have found out what I do better and what I need improvement in. Before I went into explaining what I characteristics I have and what I need improvement on I wanted to share what those six types of leaders are. Ambassadors instinctively know how to handle a variety of situations with grace. Advocates instinctively act as the spokesperson in a group. People Movers instinctively take the lead in building teams. Truth-Seekers instinctively level the playing field for those in need. They also help people understand new rules and policies. Creative builders are visionaries

The results of the self-assessments are not consistent. According to the Authentic Leadership Self-Assessment, I rated low on self-awareness. This is due to my inability to recognize my strengths and weaknesses. I did, however, rate high on internalized moral perspective, balanced processing, and relational transparency. Next, the LMX 7 Questionnaire, I rated high. This questionnaire was given to my supervisor and one of my followers. The results of my Path-Goal Leadership Questionnaire, I rated average in all leadership styles. I rated highest in the directive style. The Skills Inventory Assessment resulted in a high score in technical and human skills, and moderate in conceptual skills. Having a moderate score in conceptual skills results in my inability to see the goals of the organization. I should familiarize myself with the organizations aims and objectives and align my goals with theirs. Furthermore, the Leadership Trait Questionnaire scores averaged between a 3 and 4, the highest scores being in dependability and friendly.
