Ques 1. Was it a good deal for Marcia? Why or why not? Give reasons. No, it was not a good deal for Marcia at all. The following reasons briefly describe the above said. a) While doing paperwork and finance formalities, she had to give many hidden charges. The deal wasn’t transparent. For example Darrel did not inform her about the processing fees and insurance fees. So in a way Marcia approved the deal with a wrong idea about it. b) In terms of time and energy, Marcia had to suffer mental agony because of various hidden charges she had to pay while she was doing her final formalities. Her first and foremost concern was price. Darrel, who knew this, somehow managed to convince her that she would get so many discounts. But actually …show more content…
He could make out she was naïve and she lacked sufficient information about the car. He could take advantage of it. By mentioning about the difficulties he had to face to get the sales manager convinced, he could convince her that what he offered was a very good deal for her. 4. Since he could understand price was her concern, he could make it appear like she’s getting a high discount. Weakness: 1. What worked with Marcia wouldn’t work with all customers. 2. Many hidden costs were involved; the deal wasn’t transparent 3. The claims weren’t totally honest, which makes it difficult to sustain in the long run. Ques 4. If you were in place of Marcia, how would you have proceeded with the negotiations (assuming that you did want to buy the Zirconia GT). Give your answer quoting specific instances from the case. If I was in place of Marcia I would not have expressed overt excitement for the car after it was first shown to me. Unlike Marcia who said, “I always wanted a car like this”. My response would have been, “It seems a bit overloaded for my needs, but it looks like a nice car so I would like to take it out for a spin”. After driving the car I would have said, “I really liked the car’s design, handling and drive but I definitely will not go for full option list and quad stereo. Also magnesium hubs don’t suit my taste, so won’t be taking those. How much is the cost”? After hearing the price at $15,750 I would have told him that it was
Negotiations are a part of daily life whether we are aware of them occurring or not. In everything that we do there are preferred end results and the end results are likely to affect more than one person. The goal in this however, is to ensure that all parties are equally benefited from the actions and reactions that occur to create that end result. While some dealings are done in a more subtle manner without a great deal of negotiation per say there are other situations that would warrant more vocalized mutually acceptable compromises. The purpose of this paper will be to effectively explain a situation of which required negotiation on the part of both parties that almost all of us have endured and that would be the process of buying a
Lonesome’s wife states that she wants three thousand dollars a month before she will divorce Lonesome, threatening to make Lonesome and Marcia’s lives harder should he decline her offer. Marcia suggests that Lonesome and his wife sort the divorce out between themselves, and Lonesome’s wife provides further evidence to support that Lonesome suffers from psychopathy by stating that he begins and ends relationships in quick succession, which is an indicator of psychopathy. Having had enough of Lonesome’s wife, Marcia escorts her out of her apartment.
1. What did Nancy Denny think she was buying? What did she buy? On what legal theories did she sue? On what basis did she win?
Therefore I included how I could sell him my product. Before I get into the negotiation I inquired beforehand. By collecting as much information before starting the negotiation, I could understand what was the needs and concerns of Sally Soprano. This knowledge makes it easier finding a mutually beneficial solution.
1. How did you plan for the negotiation? Explain how you decided on a strategy?
Lies, they're everywhere, are they worth the trouble? Throughout these three articles, “It’s the truth”, “Honestly tell the truth”, and “Rejecting all lies”, the authors precisely analyze who agrees, and who doesn’t agree with lying, and why. Lying may be the first thing to come to mind when in a bad situation, but does anyone realize how much damage it can cause towards the other person or to the liar themselves?
After having established my position over the seller, making new propositions was a lot easier. Also, she had realized that not reaching an agreement with me meant that she could not pursue her life’s dream, whereas reaching an agreement with me made it possible for even if it meant having to delay for a few months. Adopting a stronger position and
She wanted to be a role model for her children and at the same time, she wanted to become friend with them. Helen valued education, and she wanted Julie to go to college and have a successful life. However, after she found out that Julie had secretly being together with Tod, the poor, unambitious man. She was disappointed, betrayed, sad. Julie moved out of Helen’s home. Later, when Helen found out that Julie and her husband Tod had nowhere to live, she let them move in with her. She is a permissive parent, yet, she cares about her children, provides them as much support as she can. Helen stayed calm when Gary told her he wanted to live with his dad for a while. I can see her heart was bleeding when she heard her son’s words. She gave Gary his father’s phone number anyway, and Gary talked to his dad over the phone and figured out the cruel fact that his dad didn’t care for them anymore. Helen wanted to comfort Gary but he refused to talk. I felt Helen’s guilt and desperation at that moment. After she broke into Gary’s room and found out that Gary was carrying the bag that contains pornography, she immediately asked Tod’s help to talk to Gary. She had a chance to talk to Tod and had learned that Tod came from a broken family. She had a better idea of who Tod was and his help to Gary gained Helen’s respect. Helen supported Tod and helped her daughter Julie overcame the tough situation in marriage. Helen
Laura felt so much trust towards Celestine that when Clement Beasley came to the door demanding compensation of an unpaid debt she stood her ground and kept her faith in the woman whom she had a life long bond. Her faith and loyalty towards Celestine caused her to defend her honor at the cost of putting her own freedom in jeopardy.
Because of today's marketplace, I will stress the fuel economy and the reliability the most. Throughout this process, however, I will be asking Carole leading questions like, what will she be using the car for, will she be the only driver (if she has kids I will highlight the dual airbags). I expect I will have to make concessions, but I would like to get $5,400 and my resistance point will be $4,700.
I should have known the car was a lemon because of the price. There is an old saying “you get what you pay for”. While out shopping for cars one day, I just so happen to pass by a car dealer that sold used cars. I stopped in and talked to the sales man on duty. I explained to him that I never bought a car before and was looking for one I could purchase for $250. He took me to the back of the lot where they stored cars that had been reposed from owners that could not make their payments. There he showed me a 1965 Oldsmobile and explained how this was the only car he could sell me in that price, he went on to explain how he really should sell it for $400 but because it was my first buy he would sell it to me for $250. I looked around the lot for other cars that may have been a bit nicer, there were a few but they all had much bigger price tags. This was the only one he had for $250 although I should have known there maybe problems with that car, because of the price, it was my first car and I wanted it.
Finally, I would stage the car by washing and wax it prior to the appointment as well as giving it a detailed cleaning. In an effort to highlight its exceptional condition and draw attention away from minor blemishes, because I think that a properly staged car will sell fast. I think the outcome will result in the sale of my car. I also think that I may have to concede on the price a bit because people like to feel that they are getting a deal. Moreover, I think that if a person feels that he is getting a $ 500.00 concession on an already good deal, however I would stipulate that the only way that I could justify reducing my price ( which is already an excellent deal) by $500.00 is that the deal is closed today. I would even be willing to go down to my lowest acceptable price, just to
Summary of My negotiation from the Opera-case and how I think it was different from other cases
I pointed out a few concern I had and the seller was quick to give me an explanation for every detail about the vehicle. I already had my mind set that I was buying the vehicle for his asking price. Then the buyer decided to reduced the selling price to $1,200.00 dollars to compensate for me having to drive the entire way to pick up the vechile. He accommodated me by reducing the selling price of $300.00 dollars. His action
