A Walk to Remember: Summary and Analysis

Prologue

The novel begins retrospectively: Landon, the protagonist, recalls the time when he was young and lived in a small town in North Carolina. He then remembers an event that happened which changed his life forever. He also reveals that 40 years have passed since then.

Towards the end of the prologue he mentions that he will include all details in his story. He also mentions that the story is an emotional one, which will make readers laugh as well as cry.

From the prologue, the author makes it clear that the story will appeal to sentimentalists. It will take them back in time, to the 1950s.Prologue
