Question
What are some methods to prevent contamination during streak plating a medium?
Expert Solution
Step 1
Streak plate method is one of the most important methods used by the laboratories to isolate single bacterial colonies. This method was first developed by two bacteriologists Gffkey and Loefflers. Through this method we are able to get pure culture from a mixed culture. The basic principle is based on dilution, as with each streak the quantity of bacteria keeps on reducing and eventually we get single colonies at the end.
