The frictionless piston and cylinder contain 1 kg of water. The initial pressure and volume are each pressure of 100kPa 0.25 m^3 (state 1). The system was gradually heated and when the volume of water in the cylinder became four times the initial volume (state 2), the piston was fixed and heating was continued until the water pressure reached 300 kPa (state 3).
(1) Find the final temperature in the cylinder
(2) Find work during this process
(3) Find the amount of heat transfer during this process. Try to approximate this process on a P-v diagram.
A tank has two rooms separated by a membrane. Room A has 1 kg of air and a volume of 0.5 m3; room B has 0.75 m³ of air with density 0.8 kg/m3. The membrane is broken, and the air comes to a uniform state. Find the final density of the air?
As shown in the figure below, a hydraulic system has two pistons of different diameter and uses a liquid of density ? = 850 kg/m3. The smaller piston has a diameter of 5.5 cm and a mass of 1.6 kg and the larger piston a diameter of 14 cm and a mass of 2.8 kg. Determine h, the height difference between the two pistons.
