A recent survey points to tremendous revenue potential and consumer value in leveraging driver and vehicle data in the automobile industry. The 2017 KPMG Global Automotive Executive Study found that automobile executives believe data will be the fuel for future business models and that they will make money from that data (prn.to/2q9rubN). Eighty-two percent of automobile executives agree that in order to create value and consequently monetize data a car needs its own ecosystem/operating system; otherwise the valuable consumer and/or vehicle data will likely be routed through third parties and valuable revenue streams will be lost. What additional information would you want to know about the survey before you accepted the results of the study?

- In many colleges, educators are changing their approach to instruction from a “teacher/lecture-centeredmodel” to a “student-centered model” where students learn in a laboratory environment in which lectureis deemphasized and students can proceed at a pace suitable to their learning needs. In once schoolwhere this model was being introduced, of the 743 students who enrolled in the traditional lecture model, 364 passed; of the 567 in the student-centered model, 335 passed. Use a 0.05 level ofsignificance to test the claim that student-centered model results in a higher pass rate than the traditionalmodel?arrow_forwardRefer to the data file P08_63.xlsx. SoftBus Company sells PC equipment and customized software to small companies to help them manage their day-to-day business activities. Although SoftBus spends time with all customers to understand their needs, the customers are eventually on their own to use the equipment and software intelligently. To understand its customers better, SoftBus recently sent questionnaires to a large number of prospective customers. Key personnel—those who would be using the software—were asked to fill out the questionnaire. SoftBus received 82 usable responses, as shown in the file. You can assume that these employees represent a random sample of all of SoftBus's prospective customers. SoftBus believes it can afford to spend much less time with customers who own PCs and score at least 4 on PC Knowledge. Let's call these the "PC-savvy" customers. On the other hand, SoftBus believes it will have to spend a lot of time with customers who do not own a PC and score 2 or…arrow_forwardIn a well crafted spreadsheet, the formulae will never need to be altered, regardless of the changes that are made to the data or the parameters. - Large companies typically collect volumes of data before designing a product, not only to gain information as to whether the product should be released, but also to pinpoint which markets would be the best targets for the product. Several months ago, I was interviewed by such a company while shopping at a mall. I was asked about my exercise habits and whether or not I'd be interested in buying a video/DVD designed to teach stretching exercises. I fall into the male, 18 – 35-years-old category, and I guessed that, like me, many males in that category would not be interested in a stretching video. My friend Diane falls in the female, older-than-35 category, and I was thinking that she might like the stretching video. After being interviewed, I looked at the interviewer's results. Of the 93 people in my market category who had been interviewed, 17 said they would buy the product, and of the 113 people in Diane's market category, 34 said they would buy it. Assuming that these data came…arrow_forwardLarge companies typically collect volumes of data before designing a product, not only to gain information as to whether the product should be released, but also to pinpoint which markets would be the best targets for the product. - During the Covid crisis, there were lockdowns and working-from-home, which made collecting data on unemployment more challenging. Researchers from a US University conducted a survey of 1,000 individuals in the labour force to assess rise in unemployment in September 2020. The object was to find out whether the unemployment rate had risen above a benchmark proportion of 5 per cent of the labour force in Scotland. Of the surveyed persons, 60 reported being unemployed in the week prior to the survey. Conduct a two-tailed test of whether unemployment rate during this period was 5 per cent. Set out your null and alternative hypotheses, significance level, test statistic, assumptions and sampling distribution clearly. Conduct the test and comment on the economic significance of the findings.arrow_forwardIllustrate graphically and explain how each of the following factors would affect the demand or supply for Nike factory workers: · Assuming that the market for Nike factory workers is perfectly competitive, what would be the impact on wages and the number of Nike factory workers employed?" 1. The demand for new sports shoes has increased as more people are concerned about their health. 2. Increased training makes workers more skilled and productive. 3. The COVID-19 pandemic is likely to interrupt the production process of Nike. 4. A larger number of professional workers are interested in working in factories.arrow_forwardIf the data analyst hypothesizes that grocery sales are higher when payment is made using credit cards compared to cash payment, the null hypothesis would likely state that grocery sales are lower when payment is made using credit cards compared to cash payment. - In a classic study, Shrauger (1972) examined the effect of an audience on performance for two groups of participants: high self-esteem and low self-esteem individuals. The participants in the study were given a problem-solving task with half of the individuals in each group working alone and a half working with an audience. Performance on the problem-solving task was measured for each individual. The results showed that the presence of an audience had little effect on high self-esteem participants but significantly lowered the performance for the low self-esteem participants. a. Data was collected on their sex (male/female), race (White/non-White), and grade level (9,10,11,12). Researchers realized that the impact of race on consuming alcohol before driving might vary by grade level and decided to fit the following model.
