(a)
To determine: The independent variable present in the experiment.
Introduction: In the given experiment, the heart rate of students was first measured at rest, and then after exercising using a step test. The study revealed two findings–the heart rate was found to be increased after exercise, and the female subjects had higher resting heart rate compared to male subjects.
To determine: The dependent variable present in this experiment.
(b)
To sketch: The graph with correct variables and labeled axis.
Introduction: Graphs are pictorial representations that represents the relationship between two or more that two variables, which are plotted in a rectangular region. The graphs are used to represent a large amount of numerical data in a small space. It is also used to emphasize comparisons between variables, and show trends over time.
To sketch: The graph with trend lines or bars that show the estimate of data collection.
Introduction: A trend line is considered as the line of best fit, which is used to mark the behavior of a set of data points to represent a certain pattern.
