Concept explainers
To appraise:
The importance of accepting the results of experiment with an open mind.
Introduction:
The procedure performed to validate, accept, or refute the hypothesis is termed as an experiment. From an experiment, one can analyse the output when certain factors are manipulated.
Explanation of Solution
An experiment was conducted with glues and adhesives to develop much stronger adhesives. In 1968, a scientist developed an adhesive that was weak to stick on to something. This adhesive could stick to the paper easily, but could also be removed without leaving any mark of it. The scientist considered this discovery of him as a failure because he was trying to develop much stronger adhesive.
After many years, he thought of coating the paper with same weak adhesive/glue. This idea was used on removable notes chits many years later. Now, removable notes chits are used by many people and one must thank the scientist for accepting the results of his failed experiment as well.
