The images of trees in Figure P1.68 come from a catalog advertising fast-growing trees. If we mark the position of the top of the tree in the successive years, as shown in the graph in the figure, we obtain a motion diagram much like ones we have seen for other kinds of motion. The motion isn't steady, of course. In some months the tree grows rapidly; in other months, quite slowly. We can see, though, that the average speed of growth is fairly constant for the first few years.

- The velocity of a rat traveling on a straight line is v(s)=1/(s+1), where the velocity is in meters per second and s is in meters. the rat travels 10 meters from s=0 to s=10m. Assume s=0 when t=0. 1. The total time it took for the rat to reach s=10m is ____s. 2. The expression for the position as a function of time is s(t)=_____. 3. The absolute maximum (maximum of absolute values) acceleration of the rat during the 10-meter trip is ____ m/s^2. Please help solve these questions, the solutions are given below I'm just not sure how to solve it. (Use paper sheet ,Not Typewritten) The solutions are: 1) 110 2)(sqrt(t+0.25))-0.5 3)1.00arrow_forwardThe images of trees come from a catalog advertising fast-growing trees. - A car is traveling at 30 m/s ( approximately 67 mph) on I-95 highway. The driver applies the brakes and the car comes to a stop in 4.0 s . What is the car's acceleration, in m/s2? Your answer needs to have 2 significant figures, including the negative sign in your answer if needed.arrow_forwardA driver traveling north slows down from 35.4m / s to 0m / s in 8.6 seconds. What is the magnitude of the driver's acceleration? The standard units for acceleration are "meters per second-squared" or "meters per second per second" and it's written as m / (s ^ 2) or m / s / sarrow_forwardA parachutist's speed during a free fall reaches 264 feet per second. What is this speed in meters per second? At this speed, how many meters will the parachutist fall during 10 seconds of free fall? In your computations, assume that 1 meter is equal to 3.3 feet. - You are driving 65.0 miles/hour and you see a police car, so you slow down to 42.5 miles/hour. It takes you 3 seconds to do this. What is your deceleration? (I asked this one before, but someone plugged in -22.5 miles/hr x 2.237 m/s / 1 mile an hour which I didn't understand)arrow_forwardAs you are driving to school one day, you pass a construction site of a new building and you stop to watch for a few minutes. A crane is lifting a batch of bricks on a pallet to an upper floor of the building. Suddenly a brick falls off the rising pallet. You measure the time it takes for the brick to hit the ground and you find it to be 2.5 seconds. The crane has height markings. You saw the brick fell off the pallet at a height of 30.7 meters above the ground. A falling brick can be dangerous, and you wonder how fast the brick was moving when it hit the ground. Since you are taking physics, you quickly calculate the answer.arrow_forwardFigure 1 shows the velocity-time graph of a person moving along one straight path called the x-axis. Find the position of the person at t = 10 s and the average velocity between t= 0 and 10 seconds. (b) Identify the time windows during which the person has an non-zero acceleration and find the accelerations in those time windows. The cliff is h = 20.0 m above a flat, horizontal beach as shown in the figure. Write the equations for the position of the stone with time, using the coordinates in the figure.
