Isotonic contraction is a type of contraction that causes the muscle to shorten or lengthen during exhibiting force for a movement of a body part. A continuous contraction force for a long time period may result in discomfort in the concerned body part and may even lead to muscle fatigue.

Regular exercise is necessary to prevent a decrease in muscle strength. Exercise helps to strengthen muscles and keeps joints, tendons, and ligaments more flexible, allowing for a more active lifestyle.
