Introduction:
Skeletal muscles are categorized as voluntary muscles because they are regulated by the somatic (voluntary) nervous system. A contracting skeletal muscle maintains tension on the attachment site of the muscle to move. The events of muscle contraction are called excitation-contraction coupling. The innervation of a muscle fiber by a nerve impulse results in a series of events that ends in muscle fiber contraction
