The role of worm parasitism in snail mating.

Introduction:

Researcher Curt Lively and his colleagues conducted an experiment in which the collected feces of ducks which are considered as a major source of bacteria and egg eggs of parasitic worms. They treated the feces in following ways:

1. Heat sterilized the feces which killed both bacteria as well as worm egg.

2. Heat sterilized the feces and replaced the bacteria.

3. Using bleach to kill bacteria and leaving the worm eggs as such.

4. No treatment

They then added the fecal samples to aquaria in which parasite free mud snail was present.
