Concept introduction:

Excitation-contracting coupling is an event that involves T-tubules, sarcolemma and sarcoplasmic reticulum. The following events occur during excitation-coupling: development of an “end plate potential” at the motor end plate, initiation and propagation of action potential along the T tubules and sarcolemma and release of calcium ions from the sarcoplasmic reticulum.
