Concept explainers
(a)
Interpretation:
The pressure of the dry oxygen gas can be calculated as follows:
Concept Introduction:
The ideal gas equation is combination of different
Here, P is pressure, V is volume, n is number of moles, R is Universal gas constant and T is temperature.
The ideal gas equation can be used to calculate any one of the physical property of gas out of pressure, volume, moles and temperature. If the produced gas is collected over water, we have to subtract the vapour pressure to get the pressure of dry gas.
(b)
Interpretation:
The number of moles of oxygen gas produced needs to be calculated.
Concept Introduction:
The ideal gas equation is combination of different gas laws such as Boyle’s law, Charles’s law, Gay-Lussac law etc. The combination of all these laws gives the ideal gas equation.
Here, P is pressure, V is volume, n is number of moles, R is Universal gas constant and T is temperature.
(c)
Interpretation:
The mass of
Concept Introduction:
The mass of a substance can be calculated from number of moles and molar mass as follows:
Here, n is number of moles and M is molar mass.
