Ka for reaction is defined as acid dissociation constant. It helps to determine the amount of hydrogen ions in acid. Kb for reaction is defined as base association constant. It helps to determine the amount of hydroxide ions in base.

The relation between Ka and Kb for triprotic system is as follows:

  (Ka1)(Kb3)=Kw(Ka2)(Kb2)=Kw(Ka3)(Kb1)=Kw

Here,

Ka1, Ka2 and Ka3 is first, second and third acid dissociation constant respectively.

Kb1, Kb2 and Kb3 is first, second and third base dissociation constant respectively.

Kw is dissociation constant of water.
