Interpretation: The origin of negative deviation from Raoult’s law for the predicted vapor pressure of the solution that consists of two volatile liquids is to be stated.
Concept introduction: According to Raoult’ law, the solution that consists of volatile liquids has partial pressure of each component directly proportional to the mole fraction of that component. Now according to Dalton’s law of partial pressure, total vapor pressure of a solution is equal to sum of partial pressure of components in the solution.
To determine: The origin of negative deviation from Raoult’s law for the predicted vapor pressure of the solution that consists of two volatile liquids.
