Question
Chapter 11, Problem 1CC-P289
Summary Introduction
Introduction
Hispanics often face a language barrier to educational attainment. Many Hispanics are more recent immigrants. These two factors can lead to self-segregation into racially compacted neighborhoods (e.g., “mexicotown”) that perpetuate greater distance from public educational institutions. Rates of attainment for blacks have increased, while those for Hispanics remain flat. Some studies show educational achievement for Mexican Americans has decreased in recent years.
