Surface tension is the property of a liquid to resist spreading out and its tendency to acquire the shape like a spherical drop with minimum surface area. The object needed to be denser (heavier) than the liquid so that it can sink. The surface tension is dependent upon the intermolecular forces. It is directly proportional to the intermolecular forces of attraction.
