Which one of the statements below is wrong about Zaitsev’s Rule.     a.   None of the above    b.   The Zaitsev’s Rule demonstrate the principle of regioselectivity in elimination reactions   c.   The more substituted alkene is the major product of E1 or E2 elimination     d.   The more substituted alkane product is obtained when a proton is removed from β-carbon that is bonded to the fewest hydrogens      e.   The most stable alkene is generally the major product
Enolates are formed by deprotonation of an α-carbon hydrogen. Answer the following questions about enolate formation. In the molecule shown, select the α-carbon hydrogen that would be removed to form an enolate when NaOEt is used as a base. Draw the thermodynamic enolate that results for the molecule in Part 1. Draw only the enolate resonance form that includes a formal charge on the α carbon. Be sure to indicate that formal charge as well as any lone pair of electrons in your answer.
Do hydration reactions like this one have Markovnikov and anti-Markovnikov products? I know that for addition of halides on alkene double bonds, there are Markovnikov products becasue of 1,2-halide/methyl shifts, but there usually aren't shifts in hydration reactions.  Essentially, would the Markovnikov/major product for this reaction have a hydroxy group attached to the tertiary carbocation and the anti-Markovnikov/minor product for this reaction have a hydroxy group attached to the adjacent secondary carbocation?
