In-between preimplantation genetic diagnosis and genetic testing.

Concept introduction:

The use of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) technology is used for evaluation of genetic makeup of organisms. There are many methods of genetic screening, but two major methods for treatment of genetic disorders are “genetic testing” and “preimplantation genetic diagnosis”.

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis is a procedure used prior to implantation to help identify genetic defects within embryos. This serves to prevent certain genetic diseases or disorders from being passed on to the child.
