Chapter 11.6, Problem 11.6CP
Program Plan Intro
Structure:
In C++, the structure is a user-define data type, which contains different type of elements with different lengths.
- The size of the structure is calculated by the total number of elements which is declared in a structure.
- Structure variable can be declared in the type of array and the entire array elements can be accessed through a loop.
Arrays of Structures:
An array of structures is a structure variable which can be declared as an array to implement multiple values in a structure. It can be accessed through its index value. An index value of “0” represents the first value in an array.
Syntax:
Syntax to declare a structure is as follows:
structstruct_name
{
member definition;
member definition;
…
member definition;
}struct_object[index];

Consider the following program specification:
Write a program that will prompt the user for 10 integer values and stores them in an array. The values entered by the user only be between 0 and 100 and the program should validate these appropriately. The program should then:
Display the average of the values
Display the highest value in the array
Display the lowest value in the array
Discuss how the values should be validated. What control structures could be used?
Programming: Multi-Array Assignment Instructions
Overview
Using a two-dimensional array, you will create the game battleship using a text file that contains the board. The user will enter coordinates to try and find ships and sink them.
Instructions
Imagine you are using a two-dimensional array as the basis for creating the game battleship. In the game of battleship, a `~' character entry in the array represents ocean (i.e., not a ship), a `#' character represents a place in the ocean where part of a ship is present, and a `H' character represents a place in the ocean where part of a ship is present and has been hit by a torpedo. Thus, a ship with all `H' characters means the ship has been sunk.
Declare a two-dimensional array that is 25 x 25 that represents the entire ocean and an If statement that prints "HIT" if a torpedo hits a ship given the coordinates X and Y.
Create a text file of 25 line. Each line has 25 characters. ~ represents water and # represents part of…

- You can copy all elements of one array into one another with an assignment statement. True or Falsearrow_forwardDescription Note: You must use the variable names specified and you must not "hard-code" results. Write a Java program that will randomly generate ages for 20 students in CS161, and store them in an array, called ages. The ages should be in the range of 17 to 100 inclusive. When you have generated all of the ages, and populated the ages array, you must output them to the screen as shown below. Your program should calculate and print to the screen the number of students who are less than 40 years of age and the number of students who are 40 years of age or older. You should output these in the format as shown below. Your program should find the average age of students in the class and print this average to the screen, as shown below.arrow_forwardWrite an array declaration statement that stores the following values in an arraynamed prices: 16.24, 18.98, 23.75, 16.29, 19.54, 14.22, 11.13, and 15.39. The program should ask the user how many students were surveyed and dynamically allocate an array of that size. The program then should allow the user to enter the number of movies each student has seen. It should then sort the scores and calculate the average. Modularity: Main: The main function should accept the number of students from the user and dynamically create an array large enough to contain number of movies watched for each student. Input validation: The number of students should be a positive integer. Print the average and free the allocated array when complete. In Powerball, a ticket is comprised of 5 numbers between 1 and 69 that must be unique, and a Powerball number between 1 and 26. The Powerball does not have to be unique. Hint: You can use an array to represent the 5 unique numbers between 1 and 69, and an integer variable to represent the powerball. The program asks the player if they'd like to select numbers or do a 'quickpick', where the numbers are randomly generated for them. If they opt to select numbers, prompt them to type the numbers in and validate that they are unique (except the powerball), and in the correct range. The program then generates a 'drawing' of 5 unique numbers and a Powerball, and checks it against the user's lotto ticket. It assigns winnings accordingly. Because it is so rare to win the lottery, I suggest hard coding or printing values to when testing the part of the program that assigns winnings.arrow_forward
