Chapter 12, Problem 18TYR
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Neurotransmitters are small organic molecules secreted by a neuron in response to a nerve signal reaching the axon terminal, which has a particular effect on acceptance of the cell’s physiology. These are organic molecules that are released by exocytosis that binds to the receptors of the receiving cell. The norepinephrine (NE) is involved in waking, dreaming, and mood changing. The common function of NE is to mobilize the body and brain for action.

A/An _____ synapse is formed when a presynaptic neuron synapses with the cell body of a postsynaptic neuron
“Facilitation in a neuronal pool” refers to____________ .
At __________ synapses, neurotransmitters hyperpolarize the membrane, by making it more permeable to K+ or moving membrane potential away from threshold (hyperpolarizing), and making generation of an action potential less likely; these are inhibitory postsynaptic potentials (EPSPs).
