Chapter 12.3, Problem 1CC
Summary Introduction

To explain: Whether ends of protein coding genes have a poly T region that acts as template for the synthesis of a poly A tail in mRNA.

Introduction: The poly A tail in mRNA is a adenine string of about 100 to 200 nucleotides which is attached to its 3' end. The poly A tail is responsible for transport of the mRNA molecule from the nucleus towards the cytoplasm. Hence it is an important molecule involved in the translation of mRNA. It also aids in the stabilization of mRNA against degradation and increase its life in the cytoplasm.
