Concept explainers
Explain when it would be appropriate to compute one-way within-subjects ANOVA.
Answer to Problem 1FP
One-way within-subjects ANOVA is used when testing hypotheses for one factor that has two or more levels regarding the variance that exists among group means. It is used when same sample of participants are taken for each level or each group.
Explanation of Solution
One-way within-subjects ANOVA:
The one-way within-subjects ANOVA is used for analyzing the data when the same participants are observed across two or more levels of one factor. The one-way within-subjects ANOVA is also known as repeated -measures ANOVA.
The hypothesis test is computed when the same participants are assigned to each level of one factor having two or more levels, for the variance that exists among group means, is termed as one-way within-subjects ANOVA. In one-way within-subjects ANOVA, the term one-way represents that the testing is based on one factor and the term within-subjects represents that same participants are observed in each group.
