Scheduled maintenance will close two of the four westbound lanes of a freeway during one weekday for the period from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The demand on the two lanes are as follows:
Time Demand, vph
9:00-10:00 AM 4000
10:00-11:00 AM 3500
11:00-12:00 NN 2500
12:00-1:00 PM 2000
1:00-2:00 PM 2000
2:00-3:00 PM 2000
3:00-4:00 PM 2000
If the estimated capacity of the 4 lanes with 2 lanes open is 2960 vph,
a. compute the time when maximum queue occurs. 11:00 AM
b. compute the maximum queue formed. 1580 vehicles
c. compute the maximum length of queue if the average length of cars is equal to 5 meters. 1975 m

On a given day, 425 vehicles per hour arrive at the tollbooth located at the end of an off-ramp of
the South Superhighway. If the vehicles can be serviced by only a single channel at the service
rate of 625 vehicles per hour, determine the average number of vehicles in the system.
An expressway consists of four lanes, where the capacity per lane is 2500 vehicles. In normal days, 6500 vehicles pass. However, there is an emergency road repair conducted in which two lanes will be closed. The repair lasted 150 minutes. Calculate the maximum queue length, total length, and number of vehicles impacted by the event, and average individual delay.

At 8:00am, a vehicle crash closes the freeway to all traffic. At 8:12am, the freeway is partially opened with a capacity of 2000 veh/h. Finally, the crash site is removed and the freeway is restored to full capacity of 4000 veh/h at 8:31am.
