Programmable Logic Controller (PLC):
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a specialized computer used in industrial segments to control machines and process.
- PLC is program that consists of a set of instructions which resembles the controlling functions needed to perform specific tasks.
- The function of PLC is similar to that of a relay and hence, in an industrial segment a relay is greatly replaced by a suitable PLC.
- When compared to general Personal Computer (PC), a PLC is available in small and tiny sizes.
- The basic architecture of a PLC consists of an input-output interface module and a small Central Processing Unit (CPU) that runs by controlling
programming language.

The process begins when the start bush button is ON and a part triggers a limit switch. For
safety, an emergency switch is used to shut off the entire system. Design a PLC ladder diagram
for this application.
Write a Ladder Logic PLC program for each of the following scenarios. Label all contacts and coils in the PLC program.
Scenario 1
Turn on a light when either one of two switches (I1, I2) is toggled on (construct an OR Gate). Turn on a second light when both switches (Same inputs I1, I2) are toggled on (construct an AND Gate). Turn on a third light when both switches (Same inputs I1, I2) are toggled off (construct a NOR Gate). Turn on a fourth light when either switch (Same inputs I1, I2) is toggled off (construct a NAND Gate). Print a copy of the program showing the construction of the four gate configurations. Also, submit a truth table for the four input configurations.
Then modify your program so, only one light turns on at a time as you toggle the four truth table states.
