The spinning disk with the magnetic coating is used to hold the data because Read/write heads are placed above and below the disk that transverse a circle due to the spin of the disk called as track and theses track can contains more information.
CDs (Compact Disc) and DVDs (Digital Video disk):
The devices that are used in the computer as additional memory devices called secondary storage of computer. They are also used to transfer data from disk to system and system to disk, but these are not rewritable.
