Introduction:

The spinal cord is a long, tubular structure made up of the nervous tissues. It is protected by the vertebral column. It starts form the medulla in the brain stem and end at the conus medullaris. The largest diameter of the spinal cord is present in the cervical area, whereas the smallest is in the coccygeal and sacral regions. The brain together with the spinal cord forms the central nervous system (CNS) of the body.
