Does posting calorie content for menu items affect people’s choices in fast-food restaurants? According to results obtained by Elbel, Gyamfi, and Kersh (2011), the answer is no. The researchers monitored the calorie content of food purchases for children and adolescents in four large fast-food chains before and after mandatory labeling began in New York City. Although most of the adolescents reported noticing the calorie labels, apparently the labels had no effect on their choices. Data similar to the results obtained show an average of M = 786 calories per meal with s = 85 for n = 100 children and adolescents before the labeling, compared to an average of M = 772 calories with s = 91 for a similar sample of n = 100 after the mandatory posting.
Use a two-tailed test with a α .05 to determine whether the mean number of calories after the posting is significantly different than before calorie content was posted.

When evaluating the effectiveness of a newly invented psychological treatment to people having illusions, a psychologist plans to adopt an AB design. Give this psychologist two design recommendations for the evaluation study . Describe what additional design needed to be added to obtain data in evaluating any potential long term effect of the treatment
Part I - ANOVA
An experiment was conducted to determine if motivational techniques in management significantly affected employee stress levels compared to no intervention. An employee survey was given to three groups: one group under a manager who started using a transformational motivation technique, one group under a manager who began using a transactional motivation technique, and then a control group with no new technique used. Stress levels were self-reported by the employees on 10-point Likert scales (0 – no stress, 1- little stress, 9 – very high stress). The results are shown below. Use alpha = 0.05.

- LIGHT AT NIGHT MAKES FAT MICEStudies have shown that exposure to light at night is harmful to human health. A study in mice shows that light at night has an effect on weight gain after just three weeks. In the study, mice were randomly assigned to live in one of three light conditions: LD had a standard light/dark cycle, LL had bright light all the time, and DM had dim light when there normally would have been darkness.Activity LevelsPerhaps the mice with light at night gain more weight because they are exercising less. The conditions for an ANOVA test are met and computer output is shown for testing the average activity level for each of the three light conditions. The null hypothesis is that mean activity level is not related to light condition, while the alternative hypothesis is that the mean activity level is related to light condition. Is there a significant difference in mean activity level?
