Summary Introduction
The nitrogen fixation process is carried out by the nitrogen fixing microbes or the diazotrophs. These nitrogen fixers convert the di-nitrogen gas into useful forms of ammonia which can be stored as the nitrogen source for the microbial cells. The nitrogen fixation process is carried out typically when other forms of nitrogen are absent. The enzyme nitrogenase produced by the nitrogen fixers is responsible for the reduction of nitrogen.
