Paramagnetic compounds are attracted to magnetic fields and they have unpaired electrons. Lithium, tantalum, magnesium are examples of paramagnetic materials.
Diamagnetic compounds are repelled from magnetic fields and their electrons are paired. Bismuth, antimony, copper, gold are examples of diamagnetic materials.
