Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) are infections that are passed from one person to another through sexual contact. The causes of STD are bacteria, viruses, parasites etc. Approximately 20 different infections are known to be transmitted through sexual contact. Once the person is infected by any sexually transmitted infection, she or he can spread the infection to other people through oral, vaginal, or anal sex, even if he or she has no symptoms.
